This is what we country folk call a walking stick. It is actually a praying mantis that can get confused with a walking stick because it is really tiny and looks extremely delicate. It does look like a tiny moving twig with legs and you when you look close then you see the four legs and the praying "hands" posed waiting for prey.
We thought he was cool looking wondering around on the morning glory vine inside the house. No blooms yet so we found this to amuse us while we wait.:)

How fun! Nice pictures. They look like moonlit landscapes with that light in the background! - Arlan
Thanks Arlan. That was fun watching him watch me taking his picture! (Btw, I`m not sure about male or female.)
In Japan we call praying mantis "Kama Keri Mushi" . Mushi is insect in Japanese and the Kama Keri is the insect's hook like claw on one of its arms for prey and eating. I found many of these insects lurking in my morning glory garden last year.
We have a simular looking insect and it is called Nana Fushi that looks like your walking stick. Both are interesting.
Wow! Your mantis looks like Gardner2005's on steroids! Now I know why Gardner refers to her's as a walking stick! Your walking stick looks similar.
