Is it Hawaiian Baby Woodrose? (merremia tuberosa) That's what they are labeled. I can't seem to get them to germinate so if someone wants them they can have them. I have 3 seeds left
Can someone ID my seed?
Yes, it looks like the woodrose seeds I have. You can use a dremel tool to nick the seed coat to get them to germinate.
Beth
Ronnie here is a pic of it its about six mnts old now you may want to soak it for a few days then nick the seed in the eye then soak again for six hours then plant in good soil put pot in a large clear baggie takes 3 weeks to 4 weeks to come up i need to put it in the ground its about 15 feet tall Paul
Thanks Beth and Paul. Do you think I will ever get to see a flower here? Couple of years maybe if I bring it in for the winter?
yup i think you will ill bet mine blooms here in jan
I have to keep my tropical perennial MG's pruned and bring them in for the winter. We get just enough light frost to do them in! Blue Dawn and the bindweed die back over the winter but the roots are just fine so they come back, even if they don't make seed.
I sprouted some of these last Fall. It had a very thick seed coat and I used a dremel tool with a diamond grinder. I ground throught the coat from the tip, down along the ridge to the bottom and they germinated in no time. Frank
OK now tell me it they are worth growing and saving!! LOL I have some of the Argyreia nervosa too but don't know if they are worth babying inside.
Check out this thread and see if they are worth it to you.

Merremia tuberosa sprouts the best when the seed is nicked distal(!) to the hilium and when bottom heat is used...

Word of caution...I grew this in the ground here in 8b, and it didn't come back after freezing. If you want to grow this above zone 9, you'll have to pot it up or else grow it in a very sheltered position. It also doesn't bloom until it's second year.
