I'm looking to buy a mountain ash, probably from Wayside Gardens, since they are reliable and nearby, unless someone can tell me about a better source. Thanks.
uh oh, I just checked the garden watchdog and it seems wayside gardens has fallen way down in rating. I am reluctant to order at this point.

Mountain Ash
Do you mean Fraxinus texensis (the true Mountain Ash) or a Sorbus (Rowan, often mis-named "mountain ash" even though it isn't an ash at all)?
Resin
Most likely a sorbus, I'm doing some research. The tree I'm looking for is native to the US and can be found in the wild in the higher elevations of the eastern US forests.
It is also used in landscaping. The tree I have in mind has lacy leaves and produces orange berries in clusters. If you could supply a latin name, that would be most helpful and appreciated.
Rosemary
Rosemary, I think what you're wanting is Sorbus americana (American mountain ash).
Yes, I think so too. I have to find a source to purchase one.
Thanks one and all. I just ordered a Sorbus americana from Forest Farm in Williams, Oregon to be delivered in early March.
