Amazing
The last time I was in US was over 15 years ago - seems they haven't fixed the lack of Cadburys yet!
I'm sure this is some fantastic business opportunity being missed!)
I have to bring over PG Tips on my visits to the UK, for a cousin who misses them!
Will see what I can do.
Sue
CLOSED: Van Gogh's Starry Night Swap
We lived for a time in Scotland, but my husband is from the London area. I still have not made it to Ireland, but will do Soon, I hope.
Some Cadbury's bars are easy to get hold of here, but not the boxes of minis (Temptations? can't remember the name). I can get PG Tips easily now thanks to Safeway's and while the price is still high, it's much better than what the import stores charge. The store in Annapolis jacks up the prices several times over (one can Heinz beans for USD $2.50, small packet of crumble mix for $1.50, cheapo Christmas crackers start around $30...)
You guys are making me hungry! The nestles black magic was killer. Every once in a while I'll order some off the net and end up paying 30 dollars for the small box, worth it though. After having those nice fat robust porridge oats I used to get at sainsburys, I haven't been able to eat american oats since. We don't have anything like robinsons orange squash either in america.
I used to shop at tesco's and sainsburys when I lived there. I miss the variety of potatoes too. In america we only have 3 - 4 different kinds to choose from and I loved to buy those huge mushroom caps, sautee them in some butter and garlic and use them as buns for hamburgers.
I miss the fish too. monk fish and halibut (not the mushy kind .. the kind that eats like a steak). I never liked fish all that much until I moved to england ... and the bread. I pine for the black olive chibatta and foccacio. They are just starting to get it here .. but it doesn't taste anything like it's suppose to.
I gotta stop. I'm drooling. Anyway .. it is rumoured that Tesco's is coming to america!

You're Killing Me! You just had to go and mention the bread - you took me right back to my favorite shop and their amazing olive loaf, and fresh fruit scones, and millionaire's shortbread. Oh, and the fish, and the cheesemongers, and the yummy pasties and jacket potatoes. Killin Me.
I just saw a big box of Porridge Oats at Safeway's the other day. I didn't pay attention to the brand.
Did a quick Google search and got this:
Tesco.com launches in US as Safeway …
Following the success of its online strategy in the UK, Tesco.com has launched onto the US market through Tesco's joint venture with Safeway of the US. The joint venture service, Safeway.com, is 50% owned by Safeway and 35% owned by Tesco, and operates through Grocery Works.
John Browett, chief executive officer of Tesco.com said, "California was the birth place of Internet shopping, so it's fantastic to take a successful British model to Silicon Valley. We're working closely with our colleagues at Safeway Inc to tailor the home shopping service to meet local expectations."
May I ditto Cedarnest and ask you to send both the van Gogh and Variations swaps in the envelope I sent on Tuesday for the Variations swap? You already have my seed.
Perhaps we should be trading food....one bag of porridge Oats for one pack Hersheys...perhaps Dave could set us up a new "International Food Trading" forum....he he!
Back to the serious matter in hand ...my package wil be in the post today....and I'd better get to work as i'm late already!
Sue
Just a thought - the chocolate you mention ...Smarties and Black Magic are made by Nestle....I thought the worls most favorite Chocolate was made by Cadburys

I don't think I wrote both swaps on the outside of my envelope, either - but you already had my seed for this swap. Hope you'll put both swaps in the envie for Variations. Thanks.
I just sent mine today - sorry for the delay.
Suzy
I was at the PO today and yesterday . . nothing new.
X
not feeling well will try to get mine out by Sat...Hope this is ok...
Susan
Susan, not to worry on my account - behaving oneself during recovery is hard mentally, but so important to the success of a surgery. The more orders you obey now, the more you can break later on - er, somethin' like that - lol
Mine are going tomorrow... I did go out today to lowes and did feel pretty good until I ate... sooooo... I got this really cut weeping pussy willow... never seen one before... grows in a pot and it only gets to 25" made my day then took a nap...LOL
Hope everyone is doing well!
Hugs,
Susan
Hey X, just wondering if all the seeds arrived .....
Was curious about that myself :-)
Me too.I know mine are there..just not bolded in the list above.getting anxious : ))
Mine should have gotten there, too.
Suzy
X is the swap about ready?....
X, is everything OK on your end? We haven't heard from you in a while... Just hoping all is well.
I don't know about you guys - but I'm getting worried about Xeramtheum.
This is not like her....one minute she's talking every day...the last two weeks she's not been here.
I feel like a worried relative and want someone to pop over to her house to check she's ok.
What can we do?
Sue
I know what you mean Sue,I have been worried about her too. This is so unlike her.Hope she is ok : (
Should I write a letter to her...if anything has happened to her....say she's in hospital - then someone will let us know
But don't want to hassle anyone...What do you think?
Sue
She posted on the Variation of a color swap on March 10

Thanks for hosting, X. I know this time of year it is really hard to come in out of the garden and think of anything else. If your weather is anything like mine has been lately, you probably are out there as often as possible! Looking forward to getting these seeds! Elizabeth
