Question on bulbs. 1. Is there a co-op on lily bulbs, now or later? 2. If I purchase some can they be shipped to Calif. without paper work? I know several times I lost daylilies because the person I purchased did not have the proper AG paperwork. They were stopped entering Calif. and kept at AG department. I never did get them.
Thanks,
Question on Co-Op's
You should check with your Dept of AG and find out about commercially grown lilies. I think you should find out for yourself if they allow them and then ask the seller if they can supply the necessary documentation. It is hard for sellers to keep track of so many different state regulations. Be informed and then you won't lose anything... Just my opinion.

I don't know of any upcoming Lily Co-ops, but keep an eye on Co-op forum & I'm sure another one will happen,

The Lily co-ops I've participated in, I have not been happy with the quality of the bulbs. They mostly use sellers and not growers. I'd rather pay full price for mine. I would not participate again unless it was with a reputable grower.
Bulbs differ so much in quality from source to source. I'll be buying bulbs from our local Iowa Lily Society Bulb sale in March. There will also be other sellers at the House & Garden Expo in Des Moines on March 17. I like to buy bulbs in person so I can see the size and condition.
There is an asiatic lily co-op, if anyone is interested.

Blooming Bulb is at the bottom of my list for not being true to type. Good luck to everyone and I hope they don't all come up yellow as mine did.
Really, beaker? That is of great concern, since I've got 1300 coming from BB for a coop that started in November. The lilies are on their way to me now from WA.
Hmmmmm, it seems that maybe Blooming Bulb does have problems on occasion, but they seem to try to remedy things right away. They seem to read the WatchDog and act accordingly. We'll see what happens.. :)

While I won't purchase from them anymore, I didn't give them a negative rating in the WD because they refunded; no questions asked. However, I just got tired of being disappointed and decided not to do business with them anymore. After all, I put work into planting those bulbs with the expectation they would be the ones I ordered.
IMHO, their over willingness to refund on everything that goes wrong with an order is an indicator of how pervasive the problem is within their organization. That was my experience. Maybe they've corrected some of these problems since I last ordered. Unfortunately, you won't know until they bloom.
Gee, Beaker, I looked at their willingness to correct the situation the other way, that they might actually care about problems and are working to improve their business. But I suppose, since you put it that way, you could be right. See, this is where my Pollyanna attitude sometimes gets me into trouble. :) Oh well, if the lilies aren't true to name I'll just plant them out farther in the gardens and spray them with hot pepper sauce and use them for deer bait deterrents. :)

I emailed BB after I read this, since I'm communicating about our shipments. The reply was that they've worked with their supplier to correct the situation, and this year they are getting labels from their suppliers to make sure they are correct. I'm not sure what that means, exactly, but hopefully our lilies will be fine. :-)
I had messed up bulbs from a Blooming Bulb co-op a couple of years ago, but they replaced the mislabeled bulbs for me. That same year, 3 places I ordered from + our Lily Society Bulb Sale all had mixed up/incorrect bulbs. All from the same Dutch wholesale sources?
I just ordered from Lily Nook + B&D lilies today--mostly trumpets. I've got asiatics coming out of my ears.
Really? Can I catch them when they fall out??
I wouldn't sweat it 4paws ~ I've had wrong bulbs from everyone but Lily Nook and B&D.
Moby--come to the Lily Society Bulb Sale & I'll toss them at you! LOL

Wanda, the iris you sent me last year are looking really strong - I'm so excited about them!
Now we're tossing around lily bulbs... Stay away from the Iris Forum--Laurie has a post about the Siberian sale at Ensata Gardens. May God have mercy on my checkbook!

Now I don't feel quite so bad for my guilty garden pleasures.
