A Weekend With Waterfowl

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

Conspicously absent from my Weekend with Waterfowl thread is the often present Great Blue Heron. This photo was taken on February 20.

Also taken that same day was this Bald Eagle flying low out of the marsh ...

On February 24, I photographed this Bald Eagle for over 20 minutes while he was feasting on his prey.

More super photos - that Merganser is a beauty! And I know I will never get tired of seeing Bald Eagles.

I almost made myself late for work one afternoon during lunch as I walked way down the beach trying to get a good photo of an eagle!! He was too far away to get a very good one, but I always enjoy myself. Anyway, I understand photographing one bird for that long - it's just so addicting. Being that close to nature just takes my breath away.

I have one more "new" waterfowl photo to add to this thread ..... the male Common Goldeneye. The water was bouncing all of the waterfowl up and down Saturday afternoon as it was quite windy.

Saturday morning, I photographed this Bald Eagle sunning himself on a dead tree. Color is great but black and white can be, also .....

Also, early Saturday morning I saw this Red Fox lying in wait for a possible early morning breakfast of goose .....

By lying in wait ..... this is what I meant !!!

Unfortunately, I didn't get any photos with some of the geese in the foreground. But when he finally departed with his ears laid back, I did pick up one of the lucky geese on a photo. They should thank me for coming along !!!

WOW Linth. As always, your photos are incredible. I love that Red Fox. What a beautiful creature. Great shots! I'd love to be able to see one that wasn't on a computer screen or in a book. Sigh!!!

I'm a fan of black & white photos - particularly impactful with the eagle!

And, oh my - that Red fox is quite the specimen! Beautiful.

This immature Laughing Gull was begging for food at Fort Pierce, FL, Marina. He was willing to pose for me.
