Tall orientals...

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Hi I am wondering if any of you know of orientals that are 6-8 feet tall?

Good day,
Andrew

What are you trying to do, Andrew? Orientals will go taller when they don't get enough sun. In fact, all lilies will grow taller in the shade, but it does affect their longivity. I think Casa Blanca will go 5 feet in the sun. Also Alcab.

From reviewing my lily list, I have 2 that state they will go 4 to 6 feet and they are Crimson Elegance and Golden Stardust. Trumpets would be a good choice for taller lilies and some of the Orienpets get huge.

I have a spot right by our back door, up against the house, for a lily or 2. The steps are 2 feet high, so I thought something tall and fragrant for the end of July. I already put in a purchase for one Anastasia in that spot from TLG, but was looking for another of something, maybe pinkish.

How about Anastasia, another Orienpet. It goes 6 feet, is one of the most fragrant and has an extended bloom time because it sets secondary buds. Here's the pic from the Lily Garden. I don't have this one, but I don't know why. It's simply lovely.

OOPS - I didn't register that you already plan to have that one.

TLG doesn't seem to have Summers End currently. I am still trying to figure out if I like the looks of Silk Road, could someone describe the fragrance?
Prince Promise anyone have this one? What do you think about Midnight or something similar to Pink Perfection trumpets? Not sure how trumpets would look next to Anastasia...
OOOO what do you think of "Scene Stealer" very unique...

Thanks for the help,
Andrew

Is this is real sunny area? If so, Midnight might fade. Actually, at that time of the summer, any Lily may fade if getting a lot of sun. It's just more noticeable with a dark colored bloom.

I think Anastasia will bloom later than the trumpets, early to mid August. Silk Road may bloom about the same time, about mid July.

Ok, Yes it is very sunny. If I planted different kinds then I wouldn't have to worry about them clashing I suppose...

A few of us have 'Midnight' and the consensus is that the color is very similar to 'Pink Perfection'. You might want to check Lily Garden's bloom time chart to find something complimentary.

My Marco Polo is over my head and I'm 5'2". I'm guessing it'll go higher.

Silk Road's fragrance is VERY strong - kind of Oriental-like but less spicy and sweeter. It is a beautiful lily but among the less flat-faced Orienpets. Has a somewhat trumpety look compared to, say, Conca d'Or. I love Silk Road and I had two (see picture from last June) that were over 7 feet high. I bought a new house and you know I dug these up and took them with me! Beaker is probably right about the bloom time; Silk Road here blooms in June and your bloom times would be about a month or so later.

Kooger, your Marco Polos are beautiful! Mine only got a couple of feet tall....

How old are your's? They took 5-6 years to get this tall and keep getting taller every year.

What about Lilium Black Beauty? These are 2 years in the ground and were over 6 ft tall this year. I think the biggest one made about 40 blooms on the stalk. They do multiply slowly also into a nice clump.
