Show Me Your Feeders Pt. 5

Anchorage, AK(Zone 4a)

Bohemian Waxwings at the top of a Spruce tree. The other day I tried to follow a flock of Bohemian Waxwings in my truck, again. When they finally landed it was on the tops of tall Spruce Trees. They were way too high for closeup shots. The primary winter food of the Bohemian's is the fruit of the Mountain Ash Trees. However, they will eat almost any kind of a fruit still on trees or shrubs in the winter.

Aha! You chase CW's as well as eagles, eh? Believe me, I would too!!! Great photo - they are just the cutest darn birds!

I took this photo from a distance and could not make out what kind of birds they were. It looks like one is a Painted Bunting. I am not sure what the other birds are. Anyone know?

American Goldfinches ...

It looks like Goldfinches, but they were not yellow but more of a tan color. Are the females tan?

Could it be a Bay-breasted Warbler?

Becky, the females are a tan color year round. The males are also in winter but should begin to change to bright yellow soon. I have a niger sock out for them and they love to cling to it and get the seeds.

Maysville, MO(Zone 5a)

Looks like the zone 5 GF's here. The males are starting to get a little more yellow, especially starting on their throat and upper breast.

Definitely Goldfinch. Nice Becky!
