My hubby and I are so envious of you!

Several years ago, I put big red flowers, like hibiscus, behind my ear, Hawaiian style and had them come buss right at my face. It was incredible seeing them up so close like that. I tried it several times. Even used a big red silk flower and he did the same thing.

Hi, Dave. I'd like to extend a late welcome to you. these have got to be some of the most spectacular hummer pics I've ever seen. what a breath of fresh air on a dismal cold day. I was so thrilled last year when I planted a butterfly/hummer garden and put up feeders and had visitors the first year. they were absolutely delightful! I think they were all young birds, though, because there was never any contention for the feeder. at least one was a juvenile male. I didn't see any adult males at all. can't wait for time to put up the feeders again :0)

Oh my,,, love all these hummer and bird pictures. I put 2 of my feeders out this morning just in case.. Last year I had one hummingbird I called squeaky because that's all he did while he chased the other hummers. Have morning glory vine seedlings in the greenhouse.. and passion vine. Now, if we just continue to have this nice weather.
Thanks for sharing, Elaine

I filled my feeders last year and rarely did the hummers drink it. They mostly fed on my Lantana, Mexican Petunias and my Cannas. They also feed from the blooms on my aloe vera plants.

Yippee! Late this afternoon I heard that wonderful sound, looked around and didn't see it! But when I went inside to tell DH I'd heard a hummer, I looked out the back window toward the Carolina Jessamine that is blooming and there he was! A male Black-chinned! He sure was loving those blossoms!

YEAH Linda!!! I haven't seen any yet this year. Those photos were from last year when I was learning to use my new camera. I'm hoping this year to get better shots. So far though, there isn't much blooming but a few straggly azaleas and one purple lantana. I'm going to make more of an effort to use a tri-pod this year.

Wonderful photos, everyone! My best story (MY best, not so good for the hummer) was when I opened my door and a hummingbird who was zipping by went *BONK* right into the door and knocked himself out. I got to cup him in my hands until he woke up. It was fascinating to see a live one up close like that. When he woke up and then started to move around, I opened my hands and ZOOM off he went just as fast as he came in. :)
