WOW too many to thank you all individually! I am overwhelmed with your good wishes. I just woke up; it is 8:30 here, someone called me and screamed wake up Kelley........ it turned out to be my SIL! LOL I have a full dmail too and looks like my regular email is overflowing too. I may be too busy to vacuum. LOL
You are so sweet. It is so nice to have you all as friends. And shoot, in a moment of vacuum awe I had exclaimed the house would all be vacuumed when my DH got home today. What was I thinking? Of course it is illegal. I will have to tell him. LOL

Oh Margo, I never did vacuum. Oh shucks. LOL! I had lovely party last night at our weekly sushi place in the city. We had champagne and lobster and they even had a huge bouquet of flowers for me. I was so pleasantly surprised but it all. Thank you so much for the kind words.

WelI, I am sitting here at 6AM another year older and wondering if I am going to the Strybing Arboretum plant sale held outside in San Francisco with Lali girl. It is pouring rain. I got an email at 6 where she was wondering if it was one of our wiser ideas and I am awaiting her decision!

Lali is scratching her head wondering what kind of plant junkie goes out in weather like this to buy more plants when the her greenhouse is busting at the seams, her house plant quota was met long ago and her DH said 'One more plant and I'll have you committed!'
But seriously, my galoshes are by the door along with rain gear and life vest..... ready to brave the deluge!
Of course you should go. The not as dedicated people will be doing their vacuuming anyhow and you'll have fewer people and more plants to enjoy.
If just "one more plant" would have you committed then buy three or four and make it worthwhile.
I guess we should take the pick up truck then Kell. Pirl says buy the place out. We were just discussing the same thing, rain = less competition!
When they put me in a straight jacket I want mine in lime green and Kell's in pink!
LOL. Yes PINK! I have reconsidered. I was up till 4:30 AM and got up at 6 AM. I think I am fading.............. LOL! But I guess I could rally! But my DH just said if I come back to bed he will make me a big birthday breakfast one day late.
Ummmm...I think you ought to get BOTH ! Somewhere in the world it is still the 9th, so literally it is still your birthday, LOL ! A big birthday breakfast and THEN the trip to Strybing....ohhh how I wish I lived closer...that place sounds like a dream come true. Just drooling over their web site fills me with envy, so GO!! Make pictures, buy plants, lots of plants, and have fun, fun, fun. "Do lunch", enjoy a Saturday with your friends, then go home and spoil your DH :))
KELL, DH made my plant shelf with grow lights and have 2 trays of brugs. One in rockwool and one with seed starter....praying for GAUDY doubles !! I'll try to make a photo later. It was so easy...gosh I am so glad Wrightii sent me a thread on "how to build your own". Saved me at least a couple hundred over the one I really thought of buying.

Well Margo, I got none. LOL. Lali and I decided it was too cold and too wet to go so we both went back to bed. When I woke up my husband had left already. I think I have been robbed. The only good part is we all decided to go to the city for dinner instead. I am so glad you have your seedling rack going. I am sure hoping for real gaudy doubles for you.

Let me see if I can find a picture of one in the sun. I have been having a serious love affair with all Protea for several years. I swore I never would get started on them but be a lookiloo forever. Then around Christmas I was out with some friends from Dave's and I saw a variety I particularly loved. I had already flirted madly and even had dates with a similar one at a nursery in Berkeley that was in their display garden. They are hard to find.
Anyway, we were at this nursery and they had a little beauty. One of the gals I was with asked me about them and then made moves like she was going to buy the one that I coveted but was being so strong and walking on by.
As I saw her go to pick it up, I got all bent out of shape and was feeling so territorial. Anyway, my friend who is a great friend for my behavior just made her laugh, realized I was not going to let her buy it on such a casual whim when I was the one that had been in love with it for a very long time. Well it turned out Donna had sent her funds to surprise me with a plant I truly wanted. She was grabbing it for me. LOL. She had to come clean on the spot. LOL I am so bad. It makes me laugh whenever I see it.
It is a Leucadendron salignum 'Safari Sunrise.' It is so entertaining whether in flower or not. I am such a lucky girl; great friends and great plants.

Going back tomorrow, just came home to drop my dirty laundry & get clean duds. Staying in that town instead of driving back & forth.
Everyone I know that has a Dyson swears by them. that will be my next one as well. Glad it was a grand BD!
