NAME CHANGE

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I keep getting called "Vera" on Davesgarden because my handle baolvera has my last name "olvera" in it. No offense to the Veras of the world but it is getting annoying so I am changing it to ByndeweedBeth.

gardner2005, I just don't want to believe the way you heckle people on this thread with personal comments, that are slightly durrogatory.. What is next from you, I can guess, RON_SNOBVOLVULACEA. It is time for you to appologise in public as you needle people in public.
If you cannot get right with Beth A Olvera on your own initiative, I will not only leave you negative feedback, I will ask others to do the same. Either get back on the schoolbuss or take a day to get rid of your beer cans! OUR FORUM HERE IS NO PLACE FOR THAT GARBAGE. PERSONAL POT SHOTS HAVE NO PLACE ON THE MORNING GLORY FORUM. You can call me CRANKY FRANKY.

Thank you gardener for your time. Frank

Hey Frank - It seems that you misinterpreted my posting...I guess that people that people who knew the song that I was referring to would not interpret my cheer as derogatory...

The song is about CELEBRATING anything(!) that you want...the name of the song is called "I dig a Pony" and I referenced it because I thought Beths new name to ByndeweedBeth was absolutely fantastic...

Maybe better check your barometers again there Frank...

TTY,...

Ron

Ron, my post was not in referenc to you. You left me clueless, I don't even know the song. I am offended by those that corrupt other peoples name for humor and follow them around to make wise cracks about the dog too. You were not included in what I addressed. I have noticed that every time
someone makes some personal cracks, it is followed by a quiet period. I think the personal inuendos on this forum need to stop. Because you are also a high profile on our forum, this person will sooner or later do the same thing to you. That is what I meant when I said " what is next" Where is this going to stop if someone doesn't step out and draw a line in the sand for what is acceptible behavior on our Morning Glory Forum. Even Convicts in prison draw a line for what is not acceptable behavior. I appologise to you for not being clear enough to avoid this little confusion, and I thak you for rising to it.
Beth was obviously pretty offended, don't you think? Frank

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

I won't presume to speak for Beth...I've addressed the issue of personal attacks several times previously in threads where I perceived it to be intentional sabotage to both the person posting and to the message of the thread...but typed words are 2 dimensional and are often subject to mis-interpretation...so,the usual protocol on the web is "Never assume malice"...but by all means do assertively ask questions and clarify your message and intentions...

A healthy sense of humor is a very helpful tool to get through this world...but if you think that anothers comments are intentionally derogatory to your
sense of well-being >then speak up and ask for a clarification...

We are here to share and enjoy as a group...no one is any better or less than anyone else...everyone is both an idiot and a genius in there own idiosyncratic way...if we can 'make it' here on the Gardening forums then there's 'hope for the world'...

Mistakes are made...apologies offered...apologies accepted...and we move on as mature responsible adults...

Let's make the best of it...

TTY,...

Ron

My goodness. I don`t see how what I wrote could be offensive. Beth is a friend of mine. We have shared seeds and conversed pleasantly through the dmail. I feel comfortable enough with her to joke around a little bit without hurting her feelings because she knows I would never purposefully write anything to hurt her. If she did missunderstand something I would want her to know what I really meant. I`d rather hear from her than on this subject rather than be accused of all these things by someone who only assumes what I`m thinking and hasn`t gotten to know me.

Frank, You are assuming things and being extremely oversensitive and feeding a lot more into it than what was there. This seems so taken out of context. You don`t know me. I`m a friendly and kind person. Everyone who knows me knows I`m far from being rude or unkind. I never, ever make fun of people. I enjoy friendly humor and since Beth was joking about her name Byndeweed Beth. I thought it would add to the humor (definitely Not to hurt...ever!!!) to share my own blunders.

I`ll add that the outcome of this post I made was totally unexpected. I wanted to make Beth laugh, make light of her frustration and add to her cheer. I also wanted to encourage her that her name here is just fine the way it is. Byndeweed Beth is a cute name too.

I didn't mean to start a firestorm here! People in the MG thread know me and know my name is Beth. It is when I venture into other threads to learn about new things that I usually get called Vera. I am not upset at anyone and you all make me laugh! The last thing I would ever want to lose is my sense of humor!

We evolved having face-to-face communication...which includes tone-of-voice, facial expression, body language. When we communicate here we lose all of that background information so it is important that we assume the best intention.

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

Beth, Good. My intentions were good. The smiles :) help but sometimes people still missunderstand. I`m so glad you did laugh. That was what I wanted. I knew you were kidding around with your first post.

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I know there is a notMartha on Davesgarden...maybe I should have changed to notVera!
:)

Clatskanie, OR(Zone 9b)

Good! Then all is forgiven and we can go forward. gardener2005, I appologise for the comment I made about the beer cans. So lets all wash our hands of this and go on into spring. Frank

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Why I chose my new name:
Byndeweed is what all Morning Glory type plants were called originally in England. They were also called Hedge Bell, Withwinde ( a literal translation of convolvulus), Bear Bind, and Wheatwind. There is already a peson with "bindweed" as their DG name so I chose to spell it the old english way.
Beth

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

Frank, Yes, apology accepted! Spring is just around the corner thank goodness!

Beth, I suspected your new name was Old English but I`m not "current" on history. :)

I think your new name is nifty! I like it.
