Anyone personally familiar with Kew Gardens?

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Quoting:
on the edge of the 1 pound coin there are words

Various, with English, Scottish, and Welsh themes, though some are in Latin:

'Decus et tutamen' (English; popularly misquoted as "decus et tutankhamen" :-)
'Pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad' (Welsh)
'Nemo me impune lacessit' (Scottish; "nobody touches me with impunity")

The design changes each year, for the first few years on a four-year rotation of national themes, but more recently with a set of famous bridges (the ones with bridges don't have any text round the edge, just a pattern).

More interesting than that! If you fold a lady g'diver correctly you can see the queens ........ hmmmm not sure i can tell you for fear of breaking DG rules. lol But she sits on it.
Thats seriously true...

Resin wasn't me doing the miss quoting .... what does it mean anyway?

Would be nice if the names of the bridges was printed on them. I have some of those but no idea where they are.

Nope, just a popular joke rendition. Looked up the meaning, it's "an ornament and a safeguard", and the Welsh one means "I am true to my country", from the Welsh national anthem.

The 2004 pound coin has the Forth Rail Bridge, the 2005 the Menai Bridge, and the 2006 I don't know.

Ah, found a list here which has all of them:

Hah...no Mike, no tea with Aunt Betty; she must've been in a tizzy that day maybe?

Yes, it's this one that is one the coin, "'Pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad' . And it means ""I am true to my country"? Sheesh, shows ya how much I don't know, I was interpreting it as "I'm glad wife is pleased" and all sorts of other things! *grin

No bridges on these coins. However, on the back of the one pound coin is a picture that looks like a raccoon with a big nose wearing a crown and balancing a pineapple plant on its head. (Not meaning to sound ridiculing here, but that sure looks like it!)

Now about that lady g'diver...is that a pound note? (paper) I'll have to see if my friends still have any left!

Happy day to you all!

Methinks that has to be Y Ddraig goch (the Welsh Dragon), if the text is 'Pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad'
