CLOSED: What is this white worm??? Help please!

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Please see the picture!
I was taking out a mum out of a clay pot it has been in for a couple years to plant finally in the ground.
Of course, found some slugs/snails eggs...............
BUT..................
Also found these white worms with a brown head as you can see from the picture.
They were down a few inches in the soil, not near the top at all.
I live in the NW so.......

Can someone tell me what they are???
What to do to get rid of them???

Thanks,
Carol

It's definitely a beetle or weevil larva. Since Equilibrium suggested weevil, I looked at them some more and I think Eq. is right.
The weevil larvae are smaller than most beetle grubs and have those little spines like yours. I'd follow her advice, and maybe try your local ag extension office, too.

Here's a bunch of pictures for comparison:

It kind of looks like a moth larva, it has the head like a caterpillar. Some will overwinter in the soil.

Good idea......take to ext office, they'll figure it out.

My goodness. That is it. Good job, guys! It sure looks like it tho.
Good idea on the extentsion service. But I killed all of them but next time, I sure will catch them and take them to the ext. serv. office.
Now need to decide how to get rid of them.
Thanks a bunch.
Carol
