Carol, that is a beautiful looking H. australis. I've got them growing outdoors I'll be happy if they flower like that.
I've just ordered C.V. " Iris Marie" from DL thats a beautiful plant too.

beautiful!

Beautiful blooms! I've got a plant with a mutant leaf just like yours....I think it's a carnosa. Weird isn't it? I need to show these pics to my plants....nothing blooming at the moment. C'mon spring!

Gorgeous flowers AND pictures, Carol!

(Zone 1)

Love 'Iris Marie' .... and is that 'Australis' growing in and on a tree? Fantastic!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

H. cv. Iris Marie has a fragrance only her mother (H. cembra) can equal....like fine perfume......

Carol

They are sooooooooooo pretty! I bet you have flowers every month of the year from your hoyas. How long has this hoya of the month blooms been going on? I will have to look back. I am thinking that we should have a list of all the hoya preferences for when they bloom. Then if we picked one from each month to grow........ Imagine how pretty our homes would smell al year long:)

plantlady......... carol grows em up a tree, down a tree, creeping along the ground, in pots, in the greenhouse, in her shade house. She has the greenest thumb and can grow them anywhere:) Amazing!

and the best part is we get the benefit of Carol's expertise & guidance & knowledge....plus great pics...thank you, Deb

(Zone 1)

I totally agree .... I love all the information I'm getting here on the Hoya forum. I am learning so much! But, it is sooooo very hard not to get out the credit card and start ordering one of everything I see photo's of .... I want one of those Iris Marie's - it is really beautiful! And, if it has wonderful fragrance ..... well ...... that is just like "icing on the cake"!!!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

To be totally honest...skill has nothing to do with it. It IS the climate! Whenever a plant seems to be lingering in the greenhouse, not doing well despite everything...I stick it under a tree and forget about it. It thrives.

Well...cv. Iris Marie and H. cembra are two that bloom all year for me...even with the cool (upper 50s) temps of winter nights.

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

So I understand that cembra and Iris Marie have similar growth habits. Are they also about the same size?

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Yes, they are very much alike. cv. Iris Marie has the dark pink corona and H. cembra's white/yellow.

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

That's too bad - I like the pink better. H. cembra grew well on my windowsill but it quickly outgrew the space. Forever hopeful, I thought there might be a tiny chance that Iris Marie was just a little bit smaller. Ah well.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Both plants respond well to cutting back and they will form new branches...easily 'trained'.

Nancy

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Yes, Nancy...H. javanica and H. multiflora both love water...fast draining soil and lots of water....
