My Hard rock is in trouble! Help Please!

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Hello Peggie, Im sorry, I have been so busy here. the weather has been just wonderful and warm! We have had a good bit of wind , but we always do this time of year. I have been in the garden spot trying to get it ready. I have planted some red potatoes and am getting the bed ready for my Salads.
As for Hardrock she has been just great. She has developed a little gimpy walk but is managing just fine. As a matter of fact she likes to follow me around and dig for grubs in the garden spot. So Im letting her right now but will soon confine her to the chicken yard so my garden can grow unmolested!
Ahhhhh, Spring is in the air, did I mention that we had a temperature of 76 yesterday!!!!!

So good to hear about Hardrock! Sounds like she's grateful for your care and wants to repay you by keeping you company!

It hit 80 here yesterday, and while I'm very glad of the warmth, I'm afraid we're going to have a summer this year like we did last year and I am NOT looking forward to that.

Eufaula, I'll be curious to see if she goes back to egg laying again soon.

Glad she's doing well.

Hi Eufaula.what a beautiful little bird..I also like the mille fluer in the background of your pic.I had my first bird(mille fluer) that I raised in the house.she used to watch tv with me.Then I got married..The bird had to go outside .So I made a pen and had her for several years. She even made the move from BC to Manitoba with us,(1500 miles) she was betty and her mate was barney. That was a few yrs ago and we still have pix of them in the house. They were a great pair and real loveable.Who says its justa bird?

Hi Tamatik, Yes I do have a mille fleur Pair. They are so sweet and small too! Mama is "Pickles" and Papa is "PopCorn". they have blended into the BBReds family quite nicely, and get along great. Soon I will separate them to their own living quarters so that they may start their own little "Mille" Family.

Thank you to all, for the heartfelt posts about My little HardRock! She passed away last weekend, she just died in her sleep! I found her next to her roost and she looked as if she were sleeping. I just couldnt write about her,at the time, I felt so badly. She seemed to be doing so much better but I guess I was very wrong. Whatever it was that caused her abscess, tumor, apparently isnt contagious , for my other birds are just fine. I just miss her so much. She earned her name , cause she was a little Pill, always into something or always finding a way to mysteriously escape her pen.
Heres my favorite picture of her ,She always was with her Mama, even after the second brood of chicks came along . She always helped her Mama out with the babies!
Thanks again every one. E.

I'm SO sorry! Bless her little heart, and yours. Take comfort in the fact that she had a good end and knew she was loved and cared for.

My best,

Truly sorry for your lose. I have been lurking here awhile (have read every chicken related thread & then some) and know what character she was.

Some animals just have that extra bit of personality, that can truly "get" to you, and I know she was one of them, and we are better people for the experience. I know that nothing I can type can relieve you of your sadness, but know that your grieve is shared (and hopefully lightened) by your fellow DG'ers.

Hey everybody, please keep those baby chick photos coming, they always make me smile and I am sure Eufaula could use a lift.

Eufaula,

I'm so sorry to hear that little Hard Rock didn't get well. I was afraid when we didn't hear from you for such a long time, that maybe something wasn't good.

Evidently whatever was wrong with her was very serious. Poor thing.

She may have been suffering. At least now we know she's not suffering.

My favorite picture was the one where she sat on her mama's back. I loved it.

IM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOS I THOUGHT SHE WAS BETTER

Thanks everyone! You have no idea how much you all have meant to me this past year! I always felt like I was a little more, "different", than most folks because I love my animals sooo very much! I have found You All , and now know there are sweet, caring, "Good Heart" People , out there , that love, the way I do, their animals. It was hard to express my feelings about Hard Rock, Now I know you all understand! Bless Your Hearts!
Peggie, My favorite of her was , actually that one too! I looked for it in my files and I have lost it some how! It cant be replaced, so I go to look at it ,over and over, here at Daves! She was a Character , wasnt she?
I have some new babies coming in this Wednesday, 25 assorted ,Brown Egg layers. I cant wait til they get here! I really will not be keeping all of them though. I only wanted a few more Barred Rocks ,but had to order enough to keep them warm, so I got the assorted and now I will have enough to share with friends here!
But..... ( HeeHee) next week I have another 25 babies on the way!!! These will be all assorted Japanese Bantams!!! They will stay here! All the Hens, that is! The Little Roos , if too many ,will be traded or sold .Now I will have Working girls , in the egg department, and cute little Show girls and boys, for the fair and shows!!
Oh Yes... You Know me! There will be pictures everywhere!!! I might bore you all to death! LOL!!!

Awwwh, That's great. I'm glad you are getting some more. When they are so tiny and helpless,

they surely steal your heart away. I know mine do.
