Lily farm in Canada

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Hi,
I found this link on Plantlilies.com of their lily beds in bloom. Don't know if it has been posted before, but it is awesome to look at when the temp. is -10F !

It won't be long now... :) We'll be having our own lilies bloom soon... :)

Yes--I'm already getting my little paper bags out to thwart the frost and Plantskydd to repel the bunnies....

Plantlillies.com aka Valley K Greenhouses is located about 2 hrs drive north of me I have never taken the time to visit but I believe they have a good reputation. I was surprised some years ago while visiting the North American Lily Society show in Sasktoon to find out there are quite a number of people in Alberta and Saskatchewan growing, and hybridizing lilies.

Valley K is just amazing with wondrful plants and bulbs. I bought tons and tons - from her last year - to plant 100 yards x 2 on a drive. Every bulb was good and well shipped to VA. You can't go wrong with her product.

I am curious, do they ship most of their product in late summer, I think thats what the site said, just thought I would ask someone that purchased from them. What I don't quite understand is that the site said they have over 900 varieties but the summer catalog would have 200+ in it? Are the other 700 being evaluated or growing for another year?

Wow 200 sq/yards of lilies! Please take pictures :*)

You'll have to read the shipping instructions on the site. As a rule fewer lilies are for sale in the spring. Most are shipped in the fall.

Unfortunately I'm in Canada so won't be able to take pix of those I planted in VA. Hopefully I'll be sent some photos when they bloom.

Wasn't sent any pix of the lilies I planted - nor of the iris. Will look for a picture of drive I took just after I finished planting.

Thanks Echoes. I HAVE TO/MUST learn how to do this stuff.

The picture shows the first batch of lilies planted with daffs in front.

I've since planted LH side with pink & white Fellners from http:/www.plantlilies.com, again with daffs in front. Now there is also a swath of wild flowers on each side, perennials - lots of diff. milkweeds for the flutterbies.

Next year I'll take pix of the irises.

Sad thing though. a huge magnolia was cut down to build a pond. Pond has a catwalk as cats keep falling in, trying to catch the goldfish. Cats swim well. Reason for catwalk. Water is too low for cats to get out without a catwalk.

inanda, oh no! A magnolia out for a pond? Oh and I bet you see even less magnolia in your neighborhoods than I do. Poohey!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

The magnolia was in zone 8 VA. Now pond is surrounded with iris and other goodies with iris IN the pond too. And a bog garden for the LAs.
