...and how many $$ you want to spend.

You can go for instant effect (plants are already as big as you want them height/width-wise), and plant them so they just touch.

You can spare the wallet, and spoil the scion by planting young slips on wide spacings and lavish attention upon them to grow and fill in.

Give us a few more clues about the site, situation, and species selection.
