Need an evergreen name , please.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

In decembe r when I was out collecting seed, I collected some cones off this evergreen tree that looked like a Christmas tree. I didn't know the name and it wa s not liste d on my map, so it must have been a new planting. I did ask a passing person they said " Baker something." They was in a rush and the wind was blowing so bad that I couldn't catch the name. Can anybody help me out. I got seeds and no name and that not good. Don't want to share unknowns.

Maybe Cupressus bakeri?

Cones globose, grey, about 1.5cm diameter, with 4-8 scales.

Don't know if you see them used as far south as Seale, AL...but maybe Picea pungens 'Bakeri' (or 'Bacheri' as listed here: http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/132045/index.html)

That would be a Colorado blue spruce.

Resin's nomination (Baker cypress) is here: http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/54342/index.html

Thank you gentlemen. It the Cupressus bakeri. Went and googled til I found pics with the seed cones and that just what mine looks like. : ) Appreciate the help.

Now are they hard to germinate and grow. Got a few extra if somebody would like to try a couple.

Should be fairly easy, if the seed is fresh.
