I ordered my greenhouse!!!

Columbia, TN(Zone 7b)

Heat rises so exhaust vents should be at the top.
Cool air sinks so intake vents should be near the bottom.

Donna till you can get your vents in when the temp gets too high just open the door so it can work with your one vent to get the heat moving out of there.

Molly, that's what I have been doing this past week. :-)

Hey, guess what? I finally posted my pictures in my thread. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/689447/

I ended up staining or shall I say, spar urethaning, the bench boards yesterday and tonight. As you can see in the picture.
I was so frustrated yesterday about not being able to do anything with my "NEW" greenhouse, that I did put my energy into something useful, LOL

I used stain on the main part of the greenhouse but wanted to protect these boards for the benches more. So I got the spar urethane which is used on like boats. This way, the water will just repel better, I hope and with dragging flats and pots across, it will preserve the wood.

Aren't the boards pretty???
I think so.
But you know, some boards sure look like pine to me. A lot of the boards and frame is red color but............otherwise................I am not sure.

BUT
I got some answers today!!!!
First, the gal who I actually bought it from did email me first thing this morning. This is what she wrote.

"HI Carol, I am sorry I wasn't handy for your calls, just had a business conference in Chicago and the cell was off most of the time.
I am sooo sorry, In the 12 years I've had with sunshine this is the worst numbr of issues I've ever seen! Usually there are NONE.
All of this will be handled by Mike Helle and Mike Morante, (sales and production mgrs. ) at the plant.
So I am forwarding this to them.
Keep in touch and I will see you through as If needed.
My long relationship with the company has always been the best, and they are always timely with corrections.
Your photo documentation is also very through, so it should not difficult to access the corrective measures.

Also on the missing shade cloth, I did order it on the original PO, they just forgot to include it. "

Then this afternoon, I received an email from the actual Sunshine Gardenhouse guy. This is what he wrote too.

"Hello Carol
I am sorry you are having challenges. Here is what I propose if it will work for you. On Thursday, I will be in the area and would be happy to bring you the replacement redwood piece as well as the front wall panels. Let me know if that will work for you.
Best Regards, Mike Helle"

But then he wrote back about one of the bad parts. I had asked him which part the redwood piece was.

"I am referring the piece with the crack. The space in the poly at the peak is normal. Mike"

So we may be having a battle about that one part. I want it replaced because the wind will blow out the poly.

So....................................
I hope to get it up this weekend then............................Life is still going and hopefully good, LOL

At least they are getting back to you in a timely manner. I sure hope this man see's how bad that poly piece is and does replace it for you. I would also be a very upset customer if I had to keep it like that.

I love the look of the bench pieces...so rich looking. You were smart to put that good spar varnish on them as it will protect them for several years. This GH is going to look like the Taj Mahal when your finished. lol

BTW, when he comes to give you the replacement wood, maybe you could get him to help you start assembling it. lol Tell him you live all alone and you don't have anyone to help you.

Keeping my fingers crossed for some good news.

Hey, Donna, don't tempt me, LOL I was just thinking that tonight on how I could get him to help me, LOL. On how badly I want that darn greenhouse up. To get some seeds sowed.
But it will happen in time, just need to be patient!
The wood pieces do look nice and I am so glad that I decide to finish them.
Well, the way I am going, that greenhouse will be worth more than my house, LOL

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Regarding ...."The way I am going, that greenhouse will be worth more than my house". Isn't that the way it's supposed to be with gardeners? I'd rather spend time outside or in the GH, than inside my own house!!! lol

Today was a disappointing day.
I got several emails from the guy who was to show up with my new parts tomorrow. He wantedme to call him. Finally got ahold of him and he told me that he couldn't get the correct parts. And that he didn't understand what I needed.
DUH!
I had explained very well in the first emails I had thought but ended up going back to their assembly instructions for the exact page and title of the part. Of course, no part number that would have helped.

So he finally understood what I needed.
He said he will try to get the factory to ship them out tomorrow and will be here on Friday. We shall see!
I really, really want to put it up!!! Have lots of more seeds to sow and have some plants I want to propagate too.

So my patience is getting lower and lower, LOL
Sigh!
Guess it doesn't matter to get it until the weekend anyways since we don't have time to put it up after work.
But............... I will have to stain the parts and let them dry so.....................
Sigh...................!!!!

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

FINALLY!!!
The other panels arrived late today. At first, the shipping co. wouldn't deliver them today since it was so late but I begged them to, LOL
I want to try to put it up this weekend but depends upon the weather. Is to be nasty, rainy and windy and cold, sigh.............................
But got the right panels so.......................
What is interesting tho, they sent another panel with the poly being even more flimsy than the 2 others ones that I posted pics of earlier at the triangular peak. So am just going to use the 2 I already have.
Also, for the cracked wood, they just sent me the piece of wood and I have to take the whole panel apart to put in the new piece. That didn't settle with me very well. The point of this greenhouse was to be pre-fab.
But my son can hopefully fix it all up.
Got my shade cloth too finally.

So I should now have all the pieces to put it together so.....................I am so excited to get going...... I was jumping up and down tonight in front of my son and he was laughing at me............saying "yeah" we will put it together................hopefully on Sunday (he has to work tomorrow, too bad).....................

I am going to see how much I can do myself but it is hard to try to hold the panels and use a battery powered screwdriver with screws at the same time.....................LOL

I hope to take more pics as I go...........................onward.......................

Yay, they came at least. I'm sorry they are not to your liking though, I would also be very upset with them over this. We pay good money for these items, and they give us all this shabby workmanship. Not much we can do, especially when we want the item to be able to use "soon" and not wait for better pieces to come another time.

Yes, I know what you mean about trying to hold a piece up and screwing it up by yourself...it was impossible for me, so I had to wait till hubby was around to help. I don't know how ecrane put hers up by herself !!

I hope the weather cooperates for you this weekend. Wish I could come help too. lol

Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh, Thanks, Donna, for your gracious offer.
Wouldn't be fun to help each other and others to do this like an old "house/barn raising" ordeal???
I sure think it would be a blast!

I am not sure on what to do about all the mistakes, sloppy workmanship, etc. but guess I am a perfectionist. My father built so much in his life, like our huge house, furniture, etc. and I watched him to know how things should be put together properly. I think I will just document it all with pictures and notes for future warranties.

I just watched the video again so I may attempt to do some putting together myself tomorrow. I am just so anxious to get it up and going. Won't do the roof part tho without my son around. There is an area I will definitely need help. I could ask my neighbor to help but hate to bug people. I just want to make sure I get enough put together so it won't blow over if we have nasty winds until my son gets to help me finish it.

So have you started any seeds yet???

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I am working on my seeds now. I bought my seed starting soil last week, cleaned and sanitized all my potting trays too. Last night I whetted down the soil and let it drain well, then filled several trays with the soil. I've been going through all the seeds to figure out which ones can be started now, etc. Hopefully I will have them on the heat mat and in the GH by this afternoon.

Off to work on them now. Have a productive day, ok?

Donna

Oh how exciting! To be starting spring stuff already. Am glad you got to do that. What kind of things are you going to plant then?

As for a productive day. Nope. Has been pouring down rain all day long and is kind of windy sooooooooooooo...............nooooooooooooooo...............not today.
Maybe tomorrow??? We shall see.....................
