We live in Westlake, so we took our cocker to local "------- Animal Hospital" because it was convenient. I had to fill out a form about the dog, including a section that read something to the effect....if your pet is very ill, do you want to do the minimum, ...or run tests and ......., or do you want us to do everything we can to save your pet...... I checked they "could run some tests and let me know." Our dog was getting old and had arthritis. They suggested nearly a week long regime of x-rays, expensive drugs and boarding him there for observation. I was assured that he'd be in a kennel up front so they could keep an eye on him. When I went to pick him up, they had a bit of a "problem locating him." 'Never went back. After that, I called around and asked various vet clinics what the charges were for shots, visits, etc. Found a great clinic on S Congress that was reasonable. First time I took same dog there, the vet said to give him an unbuffered aspirin daily for arthritis. And when I protested giving dog "people"medicine, he laughed and said that beagles were the animals that aspirin experiments were carried out on. He was a great vet. Aspirin worked! Anyway, point being...shop around for a vet. They aren't all the same. 'Now our daughter's dog.....well, he goes to his vet's 'drive thru.' A tech comes out and gets him from the car with a little leash. Then daughter signs for what's to be done (credit card's on file) and gets a call when she's to retrieve dog. And what she usually pays for that would feed a family of four for a week. But she has a baby and would rather not sit in waiting room with sick animals. Oh well...
I've seen it all now...
Drove by yesterday...they changed "Mouse" to "sm dog." So glad!
Poor little guy, he's a cutie. I think they should have left the sign the way it was, it would attract more attention and inquiries and possibly more donations :)
fly, that's a good point! Possible national attention? Thinking Jay Leno's "headlines" segment. :)
I was just going to post that you should send it in to the Tonight's Show as I was reading the thread! Too funny, guess they did that to get attention. I am sure the person that answers the phone is not pleased!!
I can see people dropping off mini crutches made with toothpicks, and wee gift baskets of cheese , LOL! Too early, mind is skipping rope...need more coffee.
Shiela you are to funny! =)
