Happy First Anniversary

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

One year ago today this forum began!

It's very hard for me to believe it has only been one year. One thing is sure, there certainly has been a great and sustained response to this forum.
I am so gratefull for all the friends and information I have gained. This is a fantastic group with a lot of experience, a good sense of humor, and big hearts. Thanks for being involved!

Thanks Dave, it certainly has been a great year with a good bunch of people to be around. I will remind any of the lurkers here that this is not a private club and they are welcome to join in at anytime.

Al...you out did yourself with that cosmo picture, it's Magnificent!!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Salud! I look forward to meeting some of you in person one day. Bigcityal, I'm sure you've been asked this before and pardon me if you're forced to repeat yourself - I have not spent as much time on this forum as I would like to. How is someone from WI in the NE forum? I heard of the new math but the new geography?? And you're the one who mentioned lurking! I'm off to join the Australia forum now - G-day!

My goodness, a year already??? I can't believe it! Happy Anniversary everyone!

Hey Dave....where's my anniversary present?????

Mid-Cape, MA(Zone 7a)

Happy Anniversary! I didn't realize when I found this forum 6 months ago that it was ALMOST as new as I am! (I moved to the NE from CA a year ago.) All I can say, thank heavens for the NE Forum and Dave's Garden. Couldn't have done it without you guys and this place where I can tap into the received wisdom of so many generous gardeners.
Thank you!

Nice to read the responses. It is great that we have broadened our participation so much over the year.
Victor, The story behind Al being here is that noone else would take him. He has been asked to leave 117 different forums on DG. If we turned him down,it would have been the European forum for Al. And quite frankly, our country couldn't risk the threat to our relationship with the friends we have left in Europe. He's kind of our community service project.
Dave
P.S.: Al, due to his pride may, deny this story.;^)

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Jackie, glad that you joined us. (So, your name is not Bebe.)

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Happy anniversary to all of us! Maybe we could agree on one plant and let it be our mascot in the garden to represent the forum. NEpeta?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Here we go - directly from the U.K., thanks to Mark:

I don't know why or how it came about but yes its quite common over here!!!
Apart from it should be white rabbits and said 3 times before you say any other word.........!!!
Its supposed to bring you luck for the rest of the month!

Hey, Happy Anniversary folks! Ain't it nice to be in the Northeast? I love it here and I love you guys too. You're all the bestest!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

After visiting some of the other regional threads I agree - not that I ever doubted it for a second, Harper!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yup, yup, yup! Don't want to start a war or anything, but we NE'rs are pretty darn cool.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Dave, (lol) I'm Jackie and my cat's name was Bebe. First one to greet me every time I came home, got up in the morrning, whenever...hence I would always say "Hello Bebe!" He's been gone now for three years, I still miss him.
I love the northeast too. Rabbits, rabbits, rabbits!

Isn't it something how even years after a pet is gone we remember them so fondly and with so much love? Not that it amazes me at all. I've lost enough pets to know how true it is.

I wonder how Anita is doing. Less than an hour to go on her old job.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Yes Dave you can act as my attorney - can I claim insanity for my lawyer though?

Hi - I posted this on the Coffee Thread, but I'll do it here as well...

Thanks everyone. My boss was thrilled for me...get this... I've had some reservations about why they haven't replaced some people that have left over the last year and a half. My insticts are good...they are merging with another company. Although I am told that all positions were to be spared...we all know that the best laid plans....

Seems that I have an excellent guardian angel!

Rabbits to everyone!!!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I know what you mean, and I think of our pets like children too. It's amazing how distinct each personality is...even our fish have personalities..I love them all, and it hurts so much when they first leave us.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

The rabbits (speaking of animals) were good luck for you, Anita, but it was your brains that won you the job!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

:)

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Wow, Anita, doesn't that just frost the cake?

Jackie, Bebe is sweet. I miss my cats too.

Harper

Yey Anita!!! Good instincts! This is a sign it was just meant to be.
Rabbits, Rabbits, Rabbits everyone!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Harper.
And shucks, I'm late ...being new is no excuse.... congratulations, Anita!
Glad to read things are working out so well.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Congratulations, Anita. Nothing like dodging a bullet to make one's day.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Wow Anita. There is a lesson in there somewhere. But, more importantly,CONGRATULATIONS.

Al, I'm not that kind of counselor!
I was waiting for you to respond to my prodding!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks everyone..

Guess what's out my window??? Snow! I'm glad I took off today. Not that it's alot of the white stuff, but enough to probably make a morning commute a royal PITA

A gardener and a nor'easter
Went mad from November to Easter.
She'd go weed in the snow
When 'twas twenty below
And promptly fell flat on her kiester.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Good one Don! My book of limericks doesn't have even one I could post here.

Yes, Anita, wasn't it a grand way to great the day? Not enough snow for the plows, just the street sanders.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Never heard that one before Don, good one!
It hasn't started snowing here yet but it's coming. Maybe 3-5 ", nothing like it could be.
They say it's a big storm, but it's staying mostly to the south of us. We will lucked out in the fact that we are getting inch's not feet!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Hey Don! I think that refers to Pirl. She's the late season weeder.

We had a dusting and it melted.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I'd love to be out there but it's a bit too cool for me at 24 degrees!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

25 here, seems nice.....we have been running in single digits and teens so 25 is nice. 30 would be nicer, I'd even venture a ride on the Rhino in that temperture.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

The wind!!!!!!!
