CLOSED: What is it?

Just curious if anyone knows anything about these spiders? Normally I find them in my vegetable garden but last summer this guy built a web next to our hotub. He was very entertaining...& well fed lol.

Well the name Writing Spider sure is appropriate... Judgeing by some of these photos I'm seeing, I think I might have a nest in a potted plant I'm overwintering in my garage. Its about the size of a large grape. Hmm, what to do...I would think I have at least a couple of months before...
