I got a call a little while ago. And this is what I heard.
"Mom, you tell those Angels that have been praying for Cody, that it worked!" (through tears)
I asked "WHAT?" Well, Cody had his bone marrow at around 4:30ish. He came though the surgery fine, got up and ate like a pig! Dr. Uncle Dave said there are four or five types of immune system/bone marrow issues that it can be, but only one is even remotely cureable....very sad outcome for all the others. All preliminary findings...after checking and rechecking....show Cody has the cureable kind. (sigh)
He is on increased steroids, and another medication which is like chemo...but helps stimulate his system to produce red blood cells. Cody had no "reticule" blood cells....meaning no baby ones being produced.
Also, Cody does have hyperventricular cardiomyopathy of the heart. He said it can be monitored and treated with medications, and it might get a bit better if he starts producing the red blood cells soon like he is hoping. It is not cureable...but when his system is working properly it will take some of the stress off his heart.
Also, as for his enlarged liver. That is just what it is. No cancer, nothing wrong they found. He believes it is enlarged from the blood transfusions and again the body stress, IV, meds and all that he has been on the last 11 days at the vets.
Jeanna & BF drove to Orchard Park tonight....in terrible snow...to pick our little man up! They are nearby their home now, picking up his favorite foods....and then home.
Here are a few pictures I took of Cody today. Our brave little man, whom I love so much...and have totally fallen apart since all this news. So much for Mom holding it together!
