Yellow Parrot isn't one I have come across, it looks like it has Z aethiopica in it's breeding with the shape of the leaves, and those quilted lines going along the spathe. It also has a good size flower, and canary bright yellow should look great in a hot climate.

Oh wow, I like Gold Rush too! Wonderful tall yellow flowers, and that green stripe under the spathe!

Fire Glow to top it all off! Now you have to show the pics when they flower!

Steve the cheaper houses here are around the £90-100,000 mark, and they are really not good houses. It's so unfair on the coming generation, I really don't know what they will do unless they get an inheritance.
Forced Hyacinths
Thanks Wallaby - I really like your "Auckland" - that is a beautiful flower. Take some pictures when yours bloom!
Me, not take pics? the camera would have to be seriously broken!
Auckland was the one I seriously wanted out of the three, I haven't seen anyone else offering it but it is one the cnb.nl site, and on bulbsonawire.com both wholesalers. To have bought the 3 only would have cost £10, another £7.50 got 6 more bulbs, which I did like too.

Yours are not on there, I don't know who does them.
I think Easy To Grow has a dedicated grower/supplier on the US west coast, somewhere in California - that's what they indicate on their site. That is a major calla growing area too. I was really impressed with the plants I got last year - they had huge flowers.
WOW what beautiful calla lilies. I have about 9 or 10 bulbs, they are stored for the winter in my bonsai storage area. Which reminds me I must get them and put in the gh so they can begin growing. They are just Wal Mart. so no great loss if I do lose them. Sure would like to find a supplier here in the west that carries some of those beauties. I did take a couple of photos last summer, If I can locate will send along one.
Donna, Wal Mart or not that Calla is unbelievable! Hot, hot glowing pink, does it have a name?
I see what you mean there, your 'My Pictures' has been opened and there's no Folders under it. That would mean to me, unless they have all been deleted, or heaven forbid gone into cyberspace, they have gone somewhere else on your computer. Have you used one of the Picture Services where you can store pictures on the Internet?
All I can suggest if they haven't been moved to another site on the Internet is to go to the 'Start' Menu, and click and the 'Search' option. It will then ask what you want to search for, the top one on mine is for Pictures, Music or Video, click that then you can select Pictures and type in the box the name or part of the name of the Folder, there is an advanced option to search for a name or part of a File too. That should find any pictures and tell you where they are on your computer, if you can find them then it should be possible to move them back to 'My Pictures' with any luck!
Glad to hear they are fragrant! And the color is nice. Who needs the big poofy look
anyhow? LOL
I haven't pulled mine from the refridgerator yet. I decided to pull 'em on valentines day.
The bulbs were really small so I don't have my hopes up.

Maybe they didn't like growing in water, stick them in the ground or in pots and see if they make it to next year, the blue one I bought in a pot last year is growing.
Mine have grown a little but it's been very cold, one night at least down to -8C.
Mine are sticking out of the ground about an inch. They should be blooming in another month! It is 42F here now, and lows are usually in upper 20's or lower 30's.
I decided to pull my pot out early. I'm putting it on the floor of the greenhouse today. Its cool
in there so it'll allow for more root growth. I see the stems are popping out just a tad. Can't
wait for the fragrance of spring!

Yes wallaby, your hyacinths looking good. Have nothing showing yet outside, one clump even still covered by snow. The others are snow free, but we have only had a couple of days of 50 plus degrees.
Donna
Great going! What colour are yours Tammy?
These are white. The bulbs were little things I got as bargains very late in
the season. But there are ten or so in that pot so hopefully numbers will make
up for size. This is after approx 2 wks out of the refridgerator.

Deformed flowers on forced bulbs. Possible reason.
Steve, I saw your photos of deformed flowers on forced Hyacinths. One possible reason is exposure to ethylene gas. There is a documented relationship between flower bud blast and deformities in some flower bulbs, especially tulips--try a google search for "ethylene damage bulbs" . I also saw an article from Cornell Univ that studied hyacinths.
Ethylene gas is commonly emitted by ripening and over ripe/rotting fruit and vegs in our (at least, in mine) refrigerators --that's why it is not a good idea to store your bulbs before planting in the vegetable/fruit crisper drawer or to try to force bulbs in the food refrigerator. Also, depending on how bulbs are shipped and stored by the retailers they can easily be exposed to damaging levels of ethylene. I read there is a chemical spray/dip treatment that some commercial growers use that can protect the bulbs, but even so, the protection wears off .
