forest trees falling

I can't tell why but we lost 3 huge trees in the woods in the past few weeks. - near the house. I just happened to stop by the window and realize that those trunks were diagonal instead of vertical - leaning into other trees. I've got to go out to confirm but I think one is a sycamore and one may be a hackberry or maple. All three are on a steep ridge overlooking a ravine that carries water to the river. That part of the forest is old and only managed by Mother Nature. I've always been afraid of disturbing the soil in that area and now I'm wondering if all the rain we've had the past years loosened up their root systems along the ravine.

The forest canopy is really thick and you can't tell which branches belong to which tree when they are leafed out. Could an arborist check and see now if there are other trees that are weak? I walk in the woods a lot and never saw anything amiss with the trees that fell. I don't need a tree hitting the house even tho I cringe at paying an arborist.
