While visiting Louisville this fall I went to the Bernheim Forest. The day was over cast and it rained off and on so on my way out I spotted a group of Ginkgo's in fall color. I went back the next day to take a closer look at the Viburnum in fruit and once again had to stop and take a picture of the Ginkgo's on the way out. Every tree but one had dropped their foliage in just one day. I know my mailman complains about the foliage dropping fast but I had no idea. Has anyone else heard of this?
Ginkgo foliage
I've heard of this happening before, but it seems to be variable, and doesn't happen everywhere. Ginkgos here take a week or two to drop all their leaves. It probably depends on the climate.
Resin
The blanket of yellow on the ground is just as beautiful, even if it doesn't last long.
