I’m looking for a really deep red almost wine colored Crape Myrtle. I had seen one driving thru a small Louisiana town last year and have not been able to find out much about it. Doing a google search I can find a few red ones but none as deep wine/blood red as this one. Any help will be much appreciated!

"Dynamite" and "Red Rocket", there are a few more but I can't remember them at the moment.

Do they come true from seeds or am I better off buying a small plant. I can't seem to find them at the local nurserys.

No, they won't come true from seed. Seedlings can be any size or color. Here's a website that mentions more cultivars. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pdffiles/MG/MG26600.pdf
