scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Sorry, I don't have a Chachamaru photo to go with this thread because I have not grown them yet. I am just starting to sprout seeds of this variety!

Nice Hamster

I was owned by hamsters for years in my youth. Then cats replaced hamsters, then my wife thankfully appeared and the end of pet ownership happily occurred.

Ok, I don't have anything to post BUT a Chachamaru

But, first since we are showing off our animals, this isn't mine, but she looks EXACTLY like my 'Muffy' who died at age 16.

...Then, I had a WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL Surprise....
A CREAM Chachamaru Variant that I call
Cream Youjiro
All of the blooms on the two vines that I had were Cream.
So this was not a Mutation.

Hi Alice, aren't they just delightful,
Emma

I love the Chachamaru variety, but have heard they are not enthusiastic about producing seeds. Did you get any Emma?
I love seeing everybodies' pets! Sorry if we got OT, Ron!
Beth

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

2005, I got probably a total of 2-seeds, but last year I did get a few seeds. I only isolated a couple of pods of the Cream to send to Ron, and the others were collected as a mix, but be happy to send you some.

I was just wondering what to expect from mine. I have about six seeds so that should be enough to get me started. Thanks though!

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

No idea what to expect.
Maybe Ron can tell us why they don't produce abundantly.
I would think that the seeds that I got from my vines, should continue to produce seeds????

Emma

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Maybe they have a self-infertility problem and we should grow seeds from different sources?

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Paul, did you take your dog to see Happy Feet?

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Not an MG, but my daughter was very proud of herself for growing her first flower from a seed....and so a new generation begins to appreciate the lure of gardening!

Awwwwww great photo of a very proud gardener, Beth!!

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

Whats Happy Feet?

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Sorry for the cultural reference. It's an animated movie about penguins that just came out. I haven't seen it myself.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Beth, Your little girl is a beauty. Pretty smile too.

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

ow ok i know what you mean now

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

A penguin in Florida? Only at Sea World!

A penguin walked into a tavern, went up to the bartender and asked in a high pitched voice: "Have you seen my father?"

The bartender looked down at the bird and said "I don't know! What does he look like?"

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

your on a roll today, joseph!
and thanks, pattotie...I think she favors my husbands side of the family though, Navajo and Apache

My Chachamaru didn't do very well, either. I thought it was because I neglected it during the heat of summer, but other vines did way better without attention. My Maisugata did only slightly better. Maybe this particular group has issues because of their hybrid nature?

hi beth...cute dog..we have always wanted english bullterriers

emma..wow a cream one...that is something!

Gorgeous daughter Beth, and rich heritage. My oldest, @ 26 has quit calling her mother 3 times a day. This is so spooky , she is almost a missing person. I hope it means she met a guy that believes in marriage and is ready to settle down. Oops. Frank

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Frank.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Beth, I got good seed production from my Chachamaru.
I just didn't like it that well. Maybe dissapointed that it wasn't orange
as shown on the pkt.

Frank, be afraid.....be very afraid. You might have a wedding to pay for in the near future!!!

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Has anyone tried tinkering with soil pH and how it affects the Chachamaru bloom color?
Beth

Wedding schmedding what's 30,000 USD anyway it's only money. LOL (yikes we have 2 daughters!)
