Well it's moving out of here pretty fast (shortest frigid spell I've known). You're warm wishes came through Glenda! (now ask for more snow out here please ;)
How's everyone else doing now?
Good to see your temps Oltman we don't often see those of the interior of BC.
Has the rollercoaster ended out east? Has Ottawa's temps dropped enough (at least at night) to start freezing the Rideau Canal?

Last Years Winter Weather Report
Rollercaoster is alive and well :-) We had a high of +8C on Friday, and about +2C today. Temps are dropping rapidly and the whole region is under a snowsquall watch from midnight until Monday some time. High on Wednesday or Thursday predicted to be around -9C with a low that night of -20C. Then it will begin warming up once again for a few days.
Pretty much same old, same old for this winter.
Yep does look like a ride to me. Do you have snow on the ground now Ginny?
DH took this picture out the window when he was trying to beat the milder south SK blizzard back to town.
Didn't get it centered (missed the 2nd sun dog) but he wasn't going to risk freezing his hand

Gosh Pam, you really DON"T have any snow do you??? Haven't seen a sun dog for ages!
Talked to someone from Eston today. They got in on the storm and got some snow, but nothing like Saskatoon got.
Our snow and ice are still here, and looks like it will be like this until the end of next week!!
Sure is a strange winter when you get that and when it stays.....Glenda have you got winter tires on your vehicle now? Even those that don't do ice and snow seem to be getting it: http://www.weathernetwork.ca/features/camweather/displaycamsCAN.htm?CMBC0044?CABC0046
There was less than a week between taking the above pics......the sun dog one was taken by Herbert/Waldeck (near Swift Current). You can tell how little snow there is because, in the above pic, the start of the blizzard is right behind DH's car (look at the highway) and in front of the sun.
Moose Jaw does have more snow than those pics show (will try to take some) but from the Alberta border to here it is very, very, very sparse. By the time it reached here it did have some new snow in it. The further east the storm went the more new snow so our farm (Briercrest) and Regina, etc. did receive more than the South east corner of the province.
Here's a map of how Canada fared, temperature departures from normal,Jan to Dec inclusive, in 2006.

HA HA Pam!!!!!!!!!!!! Nope, no snow tires!!!!!! We just don't go out when the roads are icy!!! (Well, sure we do but us prairie folk are hardy stock!)
Roads are certainly still icy. Hubby was out yesterday in his single axle dump truck and even he was sliding at a corner. Supposed to be +2 today and tomorrow, but I don't know if that will be enough warmth to start the melt. Only if the sun is out too!!!
Hi Everyone,
Just joined up. I can attest to the warmer weather here in Yellowknife, NT. Up until the last few days, weather has been wonderful this winter, with an early snowpack to protect my perennials. This is the 2nd winter in the North that has broken records. Not too many people up here that don't believe in global warming!
Claire
What a wonderful surprise seeing you here Claire!!!!! Ü A HUGE welcoming wave from way down south!!! Do you have a digital camera????? :)
I've been watching the NWT temperatures (because usually we get the same) and I agree it sure has warmed up. I lived for 6 months in Inuvik and was shocked to see them warmer than my location last winter.....when I was up there 20 some years ago the frigid cold came and it lasted for months.
Here's one thread where we were discussing more of your neighborhood: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/680646/. There's others but those posts are mixed in with all of North America.
Pam.......who'd appreciate it if you sent some of your snow this-a-way! ;)

Glenda when are you BC folks gonna start acknowledging that y'all need SNOW STUFF (esp since Vancouver/Victoria getting it isn't so rare now? ;)
I'm postive you and your DH know HOW to drive on it tho! (good hardy prairie stock that you two are :)
No snow here right at the moment Pam, but a nice layer of freezing rain appeared overnight and continues this morning. It's supposed to turn to snow by afternoon, with accumulations of about 10 - 15 cm. Then the colder air is expected to settle in for the rest of the week.
A big Ontario welcome to you Claire! So glad you dropped by to visit with us.

Hello Claire. So glad that you have joined us. I hope you will be posting often. Please, start a thread and tell us about your garden/growing. Do you have some pics to show us?
We are back up to pleasant temps here again for a bit, but I'm sure winter will be back shortly.

Pam, at least the city seems to have taken notice of the fact that we need SNOW STUFF!!! They have several more snow clearing vehicles than they did when we first moved here! We don't even have a snow shovel, just a leftover grain shovel, and that sure gets heavy when it's piled with snow!!! We've never gotten snow tires because we don't go out when it snows!!!! We're scared of the other drivers!!! LOL
Snow still on the ground, and crunchy ice, but roads are mostly bare. I think we have rain on the way so the white stuff will melt pretty quick!
Welcome Claire!
Glenda

Blow me over with a feather! ;)
I hope you at least get new all season tires every year then Glenda. I understand the worry though of being the only one that stops ........ it's annoying having that pile up attached to your bumper. ;)

Why we adopted ice tires:S : http://youtube.com/watch?v=SPE8vL5hlFA&mode=related&search= (only worth it tho if everyone else has something similar on their cars ;)
Warning .... it's really amazing to watch but there are one or two swear words in the postings below the video.
