Last Pics from the Lily Garden

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Here are the last few pictures that I took at the Lily Garden field this past summer. I don't think the PNWLS will be visiting the L. G. this coming summer. I think we are heading to the Mak-Leek fields/greenhouse instead.

Maybe this first one is an asiapet....

J parkers has Netty's pride here, much cheaper than you can get it, and Bloms bulbs have Purple Rain which looks just like your pic. I keep looking and thinking do I like them, or don't I, just can't make up my mind! I don't want to spend the money anyway, and have plenty of seeds to grow.

I think these pics are enhanced, Maria Theresia is very bright!

I'll make it easy for you wallaby. I don't like them so you probably don't either! I really like the ones that look more like the species but are hybrids and hardier. Especially grown from seeds like I have been doing. Much cheaper!!

Yes I have come to that conclusion too! Sometimes these things look better in person, but the species are much more interesting and cheaper. The postage you pay on orders adds a whack too. Can't fill the garden up with other lilies, too many coming up which need the space!

Here's a little story..... A couple of days ago Lisa of buggycrazy delivered my order to me at home-- her first visit to my place. So I give her a tour of my mostly dormant gardens in the backyard and brag that this little 2 X 3 foot rectangle of garden space was void of absolutely anything and so I might have room for more lilies. Well later on I got to thinking about that space and by golly my memory popped into gear and I remembered that I had a bunch of fritillaries planted there! I don't know how many times I have thought I had an empty space so I dig and hear that awful crrrruuuunch! OOPS!

It's getting that way with me too. I walk around for ages looking for a space to bury something so I can have the pot. When I think I've found a space I remember I 'may' have already planted something there, not always sure what though!

I still have grass....

And where there's grass, there can be a bulb .........

Pardalinum, those pictures sure are a purdy sight on this cold Wisconsin day! Thanks!

Goldfinch, I was thinking the same thing. And I too have the bad habit of forgetting that there are bulbs under that bare patch or grass. I am now in the process of putting tall stakes of welding wire with ducting material that was cut into labels for me by a heating/ac company in town and putting all my bulbs, etc. into beds so I can prevent that sickening sound of a bulb being destroyed by a spade.

That's makes a sickening 'crunch', doesn't it!
