Who uses coffee filters for germinating seeds?
Thanks,
Corinne
Coffee filters?
I have. They work well on a variety of seeds.
Would you kindly tell me exactly how?
Are they cut in half, then folded, or what is the method?
Thank you!
I use them - folded in 1/4s and placed in a ziplock bag taped to a sunny window... works great on most of my seeds.
Do you put the seeds inside the filter, before you fold it? And then do you fold it up in a pie shape?
Right - seeds first and then in 1/4ths.
Cool! I've been saving the irregular filters I find in my stack to set in the bottom of pots. I'll try that! Sunny window for those that need light or for warmth?
right - works perfect and really great for kids to be able to see the seedlings too.
here is something to look at : http://www.robsplants.com/seed/baggy.php
Thanks Libby. I enjoyed that baggie tutorial. :-)

Thank You! That is a good link and I bookmarked it for future use.
How does the baggy method help over just germinating in soil? It seems to add extra work . . ..
Hello Happy,
One advantage is earlier germination;
also space saver.
and: it is fun!
