I have some winter burn on some leaves of some smaller boxwoods. Should I cut this back now or wait until spring?
Thanks for any input!
Pruning Winter Burn
Wait until late spring. Pruning box while there is still a risk of more frost will result in further dieback. Tradition in Britain is that box should only be pruned in June; earlier pruning gives dieback; later pruning doesn't give new regrowth enough time to harden fully before the next winter.
Resin
In your area it could be that nematode thing...it is killing alot around here...if so just pluk out the entire branch and pray.
I got some dieback from the last bad frost on my boxwoods too. They in 3 gallon pots. Had put a cover over them but when it hit 16F they got nipped. I was wondering about when to cut the tips back too. First time I have ever seen any of my boxwoods get bit.
I would not "trim" them
Thanks for the input. It seems the best thing for me to do is wait until late spring to deal with it.
Thanks again!
