CLOSED: Any ideas on its ID? Nymph?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Any assistance with the identification of this insect is appreciated. I have been searching for its ID for a long time. It was found on zinnia flowers. Thanks.

a grasshopper nymph, but which one, i haven't a clue.

Thanks, trackinsand. I thought it might be a grasshopper nymph, but I haven't been able to find one that looks like this after much searching. Its antennae are very long so I thought that it might be a slender-bodied type katydid nymph. I don't have much knowledge about insect identification ... but I am learning a lot as I attempt to add more entries and photos in the BugFiles. I appreciate your assistance.

Take a look at some of the Scudder's Bush Katydids. Scudderia are 'false' Katydids, and there are some in Texas. Those are good pictures!

Thanks, Magpye. I appreciate your assistance. Until now, I never knew that there were so many different types of katydids. The difficult part is that the nymphs go through so many stages during which they can look so differently.

Thanks, claypa. I appreciate your assistance. Fortunately the day I took the photos, the sunlight was just right and the insect was very cooperative. :o) It does look like a Scudderia. There are several different types that reside here. Finding photos of the immature stages of some of them has been difficult. I am leaning toward Scudderia furcata at this point.

Edited for typo.

I have concluded that this is a Scudderia furcata and am marking its ID as "Solved".
