CLOSED: Need an ID on this caterpillar

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

I found this caterpillar on the leaf of one of my tropical water lilies. Anyone know what kind of caterpillar/butterfly/moth it is?

Thanks for taking a look.

To make this challenge even more interesting ....

An Entomologist at the University of Florida is unable to ID it. So if anyone thinks they know what it is, please speak up! I'd really appreciate it!

Here's one more photos so that you can see that it is actually some kind of caterpillar.

it looks like something in the "roller" family, similar to canna leaf roller, cabbage roller, etc.

Here's a photo of the caterpillar this morning. He's definitely changing into something that will hopefully be recognizable.

Possibly armyworm? Not sure.

Here's one species, to 'see' if he comes close: the Tobacco Budworm

Definitely some similarities. They are extrememly variable in coloration AND because they breed continuously in Florida - I thought he may be a viable contender.

I'm still a lookin' tho' .. (hee)

Here's your Armyworm. And, just as you'd stated - quite possible!

I wonder if waterlily leaves would be on that species diet? Interesting.
