It's so similar to Merremia. Found this also by the lakeside, growing wild. But this is looking weaker and smaller. Is there a difference to M.dissecta and this?
Looks like Merremia?
Hey Dinu,
That looks like Merremia dissecta so far...although the flower you have there does seem to have less reddish coloration in the throat and deeper in the tube...Emma has a Merremia dissecta that produces a lighter center similar to the one you have posted here...still nice looking...
The leaves and any closeups of the sepals and seedpods are often helpful to the ID...

Was running out of card-space and so did not take many in the limited capacity card. Will go there again sometime and pick up this thread again.
The M.d that is with me opens in the afternoon and closes by evening. This was up in the morning.
Still haven't got the clue for the red one in my other thread, but I have managed to collect seeds of it.
Dinu
Dinu - collect some seeds of the morning flowering Merremia...
I'm thinking that the red one in your other thread is Ipomoea hederifolia...the seedpods remain erect on I.hederifolia and turn towards the ground in the similar Ipomoea coccinea...Ipomoea funis and Ipomoea choluensis are also close to the small reddish flower that you posted, but I've not heard of them occuring in India...post some more photos of the seedpods if you are able to...

Ron
Will keep that in mind Ron.
