Wondering what to do with that holiday check from aunt Myrtle? When I came across this item I thought of all you tree guys always in need of photo storage devices...certainly it won't be confused with the piles of everyday USB devises lining the conference room table. kt

Tree Meets USB Devise
Sticks one, three, and four suffered some kind of borer damage. I don't need such reminders of woody plant pests at my work station. Only cause me anxiety over the safety of my shrubs out back.

Those are unique! - http://www.oooms.nl/usb/in-use.jpg - small pic of one

Scott,
Just think of the conversation starters with your colleagues... yes this borer ravaged branch came from...the property of...(unnamed highly acclaimed colleague)...yes tisk, tisk. tisk, shame they were not as aware as I. Now Scott, when fame and fortune (which I sincerely believe will find your way) falls in your lap due to the *as seen on tv stick USB* remember the little people. kt
Kt!
I could use a little fame and fortune right now! The sooner the better, too.
Scott
that is funny, unfortunately I'm all out of euros
I'll take pesos! Yen. Rupees. Rand. Dinars. Schillings. Shekels. Kroner. Guilders. Marks. Won. Rubles. Gold. Checks. I'll take Frankincense. Myrhh. Bottled spirits. Beaver pelts. Coffee. Sugar. Bacon. Dry powder. Beans for a giant vine. Good advice. Good wishes. A prayer. A good deed. Futures on pork bellies. --I'm not proud here people! I want you to know that. (if you didn't already).
Scott
Scott,
Here is my suggested plan to thicken that wallet of yours and improve the quality of my trees and shrubs. Trun gave up doing all my grunt work a few years ago and the landscaper I now pay to do some of my bigger projects (transplanting all of my poorly sited trees) is a great guy with alot knowledge but little time to do a real complete walk through of my property. What information he does pass on to me in regards to pruning, fertilizing, and general maintenance is often lost somewhere in my aging memory. What I would really love (so I assume others would too) is a maintenance journal designed for my specific property. Last winter I began here on DG adding plants into my journal and was able to print out labels from label maker which was a big job. This year I need to add plants that didn't make it into the journal last year, newly purchased plants, more photos, and soil test results. With all that info in one location I can't imagine why someone with huge banks of tree and shrub knowledge couldn't put together individually designed maintenance journals for a marketable price...and I bet you thought I was just going to offer to send you some magic bean stalk seeds. kt
Sort of a customized maintenance schedule/manual? Hmmm. Sounds like it has potential. Thanks. Hey, and if you really have got some magic bean stalk seeds, yeah, I'm interested.
Scott
Runk, I bet you can market that idea to Martha. Add a nice 3 ring binder and inflate the price and wait for the money to roll in. That or sell them on the USB twigs.
Willis
Willis,
I must admit I am troubled by the sarcastic tone I am sensing when you refer to "Martha". I will grant you there was a time in the 90's when like the piped piper she led American women to a dark, dark, domestic place. But as I see it had we not gone so far over to the dark side (yes trun had hand stitched cloth dinner napkins that were coordinated with the center piece) women would not have been as highly motivated today to run as far away from all things domestic and most importantly trun still might not know how to do his own laundry. My thoughts about a customized maintenance schedule/manual were a gift for Scott (all kidding aside I believe it could fill a need for many folks) but I am impressed with your obvious talent for marketing and would suggest you strike up a deal with him. kt
I DO like your idea of the customized maintenance schedule/manual. I have seen those occasionally on HGTV with some of their landscape makeover shows where that was part of the architect's proposal. I was just thinking that a good vehicle to distribute/sell it would be the Martha corporations. I don't want to horn in on Scott's windfall here.
I didn't mean to be too sarcastic about "Martha", definitely not to the point of troubling anyone. Sorry
Willis
Oh No Willis,
I am the one that is sorry I am controlled by a very sarcastic voice in my head....I was teasing with you...I would never be troubled by what you said...it was a poor attempt at humor I'm glad you think its a good idea as well. PLEASE accept my apologies for the misunderstanding.
I thought Martha led you all (especially stock traders with insider information) to a dark dark...cell.
I participated in creating landscape maintenance manuals circa 1989 when I was doing just that for farms here in KY. At 2500 acres (and pre-PCs), these were voluminous.
...I can't imagine why someone with huge banks of tree and shrub knowledge couldn't put together individually designed maintenance journals for a marketable price...
Aye, there's the rub.
And the rubber would be the 'sales presentation' convincing the rubbee that they absolutely "need" this "can't live without it" tool in the first place.
