CLOSED: Camphor Tree Disease?

Los Altos, CA(Zone 9b)

Can anyone tell me what this is on the bark of my Camphor trees? I have three camphor trees, all over 40 years old. Each tree has it. It generally forms where a branch was removed. Does it hurt the tree? How do I get rid of it?

I don't know anything about camphor trees, but I'd post this on the Trees and Shrubs forum...maybe they'd know.

it's possible that you are cutting the limbs too close to the trunk instead of leaving a collar for it to heal. that may be the sap running out and trying to scar over. it doesn't look good. if you want to save the trees, it might be good to have an arborist come out and look at them since they all have it.

Thanks guys. I will try posting it in the trees and shrubs section. Each of the trees have multiple places like this in the bark. These spots never seem to go away. Some have been there over ,at least, 2 years. Except for these problems in the bark, the trees look extremely healthy.
