Yes Clare! Our weather has been abnormally hot and humid for this time of year.
Is my Plumeria getting ready to bloom?
Oh that is good to know! Thank You...
The Miami Rose and the Lauderdale Lilac look very similar to each other.
The LL does not smell like a rose not even close so i am wondering what the MR smells like..
I thought i had a MR in my yard but it is not like these pics so i guess i have a different local variety..
If this is the case i need to get one and see if they are the same..
Since the LL and my Flamingo Pink are still blooming and have most of their leaves it makes me wonder..
The LL is one of the fastest growing plumies in the world once it gets in the ground..
hmmm...

I wish we had better smelling plumeria. Most of our yellow blooms smell lemony.
True Hetty but these are all local varieties and i have a good idea what the flowers look like winter or summer..
The only difference most of the time is that the flowers are lighter and don't have their strong summer fragrance..
I am looking at the leaves too and the growth habits when i do my comparsion..
I am comparing my LL flowers now to these pics..
:)
Robert, my Key West Pink smells very much like coconut suntan lotion, and it looks exactly like Miami Rose, except that Miami Rose has a red pediuncle and Key West Pink has a bright light green peduncle. My Miami Rose does smell like a rose to me, but I know fragrance can be subjective. Luc and I had a conversation about this not too long ago. He theorized that Miami Rose and Key West Pink could be the same cultivar. My theory is that there are two different cultivars which look alike but which smell different. I think, from the pictures that I've seen, the Lauderdale Lilac might have more of a two-tone lavender shade to the petals, and the fragrance is definitely different from what I remember when I smelled your flowers. Hetty is right though that heat brings out the colors and the intensity of the fragrance so we should do a comparison of all of these cultivars when summer comes to see if we can straighten out the confusion.
Robert, I posted at the same time you did and didn't see your post above mine until now. Yes, I agree that you are an expert on many things, including local Florida varieties as you grew up in Florida with them. I look forward to your analysis when you compare them side by side. I can send you a cutting of my Miami Rose in the spring.
Lol no problem clare..
I have a better idea..
You can tell me yourself when your LL blooms again with your MR..
*Note*
The LL you are smelling is different in the summer time..she is much sweeter and the colors, well you seen my pics :)
When she roots and if you have room stick her in the ground she wants to grow and produce many seedpods..
:)
In just 4 to 5 years you will be able to stand in her..
If she gets too tall for ya let me know i can help you to stop her height without even cutting her..
My methods will stop the vertical growth but it will increase the width..
:)
If I have any idea that two cultivars are similar or could even be the same, I plant them next to each other, to give them the exact same growing conditions. I am going to do this with the 'Embers' I got from EP and the 'Sunkist' I got from Matt. Now they just have to cooperate and bloom at the same time LOL.
I use to do that Hetty..
But something happen one day..
I planted a Aztec Gold a foot away from one of my Flamingo Pinks..
Both were the same size about 4 feet and they both grew fine..
The next spring to my surprise i now have 2 flamingo pinks :=O
No more AZ and that was 3 years ago..
Another thing to consider is rust make sure you don't put a plumie that gets rust alot next to a rust free plumie or it will make her sick too..
Lessons i learn over the years but because i have plumie trees it is not possible to move them :(
Live and learn as they say!
:)
Please let us know the results because i have some of Matt's stuff in my garden..
In fact i threw some of my mojo juice on one of his cuttings and the darn thing exploded..
I have 2 softball size flower balls on both of her branches..
Funny looking at a plumie that is small and so dense with flowers..
That sounds good. I'll definitely compare them all when they bloom again next summer. I have no room for planting in the ground here, but I can put them side-by-side in the same type of potting soil in the same type of container and use the same type of fertilizer. Still, my MR and KWP will be older. Well, it would be great if they all flower at the same time, wouldn't it? For some reason, they don't always cooperate so well. (Sigh)
