Who asked me for info about Dampoff? Somebody in the US.

Dampoff
I think it was Beaker.
Yup, it was me. I was wondering if you had a manufacturer name or a web address for it. I wasn't able to find it by doing a web search.
I think the product inanda referred to is No-Damp. They sell it at T&T and other local nurseries around here. I see Veseys has it and the picture is easier to see.

So, I guess this is a Canadian product. I would think there must be an equivalent avaiable to you.
I don't use anything for damping off on a routine basis, but have several other products here too, that I have used in the past. Not sure, but I think I used a fungicide called Funginex, that is used for botrytis in the garden. Uh, not recommended, probably.

(hope that helps for now)
I've always heard that Chamomile tea could be used to prevent dampening off. It would be cheap, and if your tummy was up-set you could drink what was left over. :)

First things first! LOL
Read the Funginex label VERY carefully before you buy it.
Have asked my sister in DC to find out the name of the US equivalent. I use camomile tea too from time to time.

Here is a link to information on No-Damp http://groups.google.com/group/alt.drugs.pot.cultivation/browse_thread/thread/7ae54c99020e90d2/ef49f9aecf0fcda5?lnk=st&q=Hydroxyquinoline+benzoate&rnum=1&hl=en#ef49f9aecf0fcda5
The name for chemical for Funginex is Triforine.
Please wear gloves, use in well ventilated area, and most important of all protect your eyes. One of the side effects is irreversible eye damage.
From the searching I have done, I don't believe 8-hydroxyquinoline benzoate is available in the USA.
I purchased some Root Shield. Talk about expensive and it doesn't look to be widely available. Just 2 vendors.
Went and bought supply of No-Damp today. Unfortunately it is a canadian product.
Main ingredient seems to be oxine benzoate.
From Plant Products Co. Ltd.
Maybe you can ask your local nursery about a like product that i sold in US.
inanda
Thanks, Inanda. We already figured out that it couldn"t be purchased down here. WIll see how the Root Shield does.
