Weight Loss Challange Dec. 9th - 16th

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

Good glorious morning to all. The sun is shining, there is a strong breeze, and it is generally a beautiful winter morning.

The deer hunters are here and already out in the field. All the deer they get today will be for me and my family. Of course I will share with Kris's BF and many others who have come to depend on this meat. I've praying for at least 3 big ones. I can peel out the tenderloins and quarter the rest of the carcess, freeze in large plastic bags and deal with them later. I can do one a day for 3 days then need to take a break. So I need the temps to stay really cold for a week or so.

Jack has regained conscienceness and is expressing his anger, pain, etc. at being elevated somewhat for the tube feeding. That is to prevent it from floating up the esophagus and down into the lungs thru the windpipe. It is called silent asperation. There is no coughing because he has lost his gag reflex. So those flavoring mentions on a link last week are looking very interesting to me for him. Just a tiny spray into his mouth or on a moist cotton or sponge swab might be nice for him. It will let him taste something anyway. They are now keeping the oxygen cannula in his mouth instead of his nose since he is a mouth breather. Anyone who has ever used oxygen knows how terrible it smells. It is supposedly the tubing that is being smelled. But if you can smell it I would assume there would also be some taste of it. I always thought it affected my taste. The nurses are keeping his CDs playing for stimulation of his mind and I'll try to tune the radio into the local station he likes to listen to for news and weather each morning so he can have that again. Patient load is very low there so they can do those little things for him. I know understand and have come to terms with it in myself that long term facility care is the only way for us to go now. In home care 24/7 doesn't seem to be available. Time will tell.

Breakfast was 2 scrambled duck eggs with quite a bit of Italian mixed shredded cheeses in it, a small piece of pumpernickel bread 'toasted' in the skillet with some Parkey spray 'butter' and sf fruit spread on it. I just now ate some peanut M & Ms. Maybe 5 or 6 of them. I have no idea what lunch or supper will be like. I probably need to take some of the cans of Glycerna with me to drink. I know they are for diabetics and I have hypoglycemia, but they will have to do in a pinch. I can't take them back since the box was torn up when I got them for him. So I need to use them myself or give them away. May as well use them myself. Only problem with them is the high content of Maltitol and its side effect.

I need to go do the birds and then leave to go get Sheila at the bus stop.

GOD bless and keep each of you. Your support and prayers are so important to both of us.
