I quite smoking Monday night, Okay My DR has me on the patch, but I'm all jagged around the edges, I need something to do, all suggestions will be helpful.:~) So far: I found an extra wide set of Mini-blinds on the curb to cut into plant markers and I've been hand sewing hair scrunchies, I've folded more Ol'English Apothacary style envelopes for seeds than I will use this year and the entire propertyline has been weeded, I divided 2 large clumps of Albo Hosta that the dog stomped out back and replanted them in the front border where I had gaps, I netted most of the flowers that I want seed from. And I keep having this overwelming urge to prune my Dwarf Conifer Christmas tree from its perfect cone into a spiral. I've severly burned my foot from about two inches above the ankle to the tips of my toes, when the handle of the tea pot broke while I was putting it back on the stove, so I can only do things that involve sitting or half kneeling, I hate my crutches. The computer is a huge "smoking trigger" for me so I'm trying to stay away from it, plus it now gives me a severe headache, I've spent about 6 hours on it in the past 3 days, I need suggestions. My house is also spotless and I've organised the closets & dressers. I even touched-up the paint on the interior trim. I am going to take apart the old beaded car seat cover and make hanging-plant holders tomarrow. Suggestions would be helpful :~) Thanks in advance:-) BTW my arm healed quite nicely and the DR. said my lungs sound clear of my broncitus. I decided to lump ALL my bad luck into a 3 week period this year and get it over with at once.
I'm trying to quit smoking

Michelle, come to my house and you can do the cleaning and weeding all over again. :)
Seriously, good luck, I'm starting next week. I wish I had the answers, but I do hope you make it.
Michelle good for you!!!! Take vitamin B I think I took 1000mg couple times a day. Might want to make sure of that amount with your Doctor. Smoking damages your nerve endings that is why you feel so jangled-they WILL heal just takes a while. And take a relaxing break. A bubble bath with candles, soft music, a good book and all, can't smoke when your hands are wet. I cross-stiched everyone a sweatshirt for Christmas. Chew on a straw. And as I told Marigold brush your teeth and really think about how much better your mouth tastes after that compared to how if tastes after a smoke. Your lungs are feeling the same kind of clean fresh feeling as they begin to heal. Keeping busy is wonderful but relaxing for the sake of relaxing is good practice and you can really get hooked on it.
Michelle, i am preparing to quit... my doc put me on meridia as i gained so much weight last time i quit for two years, i started again to try to stop gaining. best of luck, i hate giving the goverment all that tax money and the cigarette companies all that profit....will check on you soon.

Your Jagged Edges are almost over, although it,s not a breeze it should get easier. after week one I found that day 3 was the worst. Smoke Free 1yr 8 months and counting. You can do it keep it up count the days.
You do it one day at a time just like you do everything else actually. When I finally quit I got up each day and decided whether to smoke THAT DAY or not.If the decision was not to then the next morning I allowed myself to change my mind and start again since I could not fathom really quitting forever.I did this for 9 months before I had an entire day when the thought of smoking never crossed my mind, but I did one day at a time.It has been 15 years as of July 14th. It is worth it and I count each day of my life from here on as a bonus I would not be around to enjoy had I not quit. So when I stop to smell the flowers I REALLY appreciate them. One other thing. If you happen to succumb to the addiction don't consider that all is lost.Keep right on quitting. No one will ever know if you slipped up a time or two and it doesn't matter anyway contrary to much popular wisdom.
Best of Luck to all who Quit to WIN!

I quite smoking on Independence day this year so I know what your going through. My motivation, I want to enjoy the flowers more. I figure with as much as I love smelling Brugmansia with my smokers nose, then all the better when I have quit smoking. Find a good reason to quit and then keep reminding yourself over and over. Ahh, gum helps as well. I went through several packs of gum quiting.
Brugmansia
One-day-at-a-time.
It really does help to tell yourself.."I am a non-smoker. I am free from the poisens and my lungs are healing. I Am A NON-SMOKER".
June 1st was 11 years ago I quit. It can be done. You do need to hear your voice. Praise yourself outloud for quitting. It helps.
When you can get around to it...come on down to Florida and do some cleaning for me..LOL>
P.S. I quit using the chewing gum from K-mart or Wal-mart.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

I quit 2 yrs. ago on Fourth of July (my day of independence). Here's something that helped me. I printed it
and it is still on my fridge to remind me.

Hi Michele, let me on my soap box for a minute, please!
First of all, do not think in terms of 'trying to quit'! I feel you first have to say to yourself, over and over, I AM quitting! I have said, "I want to quit", "I need to quit", "I should quit", "I'm trying to quit". For me, I AM going to quit, was more definite.
My husband and I both quit, 1 year/6 mos. ago. He started by chewing the "gum", I chose to go 'cold turkey'. We both reached our goal!
I had smoked for 40 years 'tried' quitting several times! I am glad that it worked this time, but to be honest, I miss smoking. There is not a day that it doesn't cross my mind. I can see someone lighting up, in a passing car, and I 'want' one. WHAY! But I haven't! I have thought about stopping and buying a pack, but I haven't! So I think of myself, as a recovering addict, because, bottom line, that's what WE are! I also, know that, NOW, I can choose, whether I 'want' to smoke or not. If I start again, it has to be because I 'want' to. Not because I 'have' to!
Hope this has helped in some, small way!
