Hi CajuninKy
Your`e in the right place.
THE NAME IS.
Trouble in the Chicken Coup.
Trouble in the Chicken Coup.
Good news, Guys! Abe is safe. Just keeping to himself as the others have not accepted him yet. Hope that changes soon. He is a social little guy.
This rooster belongs to the guy who gave me Abe. The breed is a Saipan (sp?) It is a fighting rooster and very heavy. It is built for all the world like an eagle. A really scary bird. I'm glad I got Abe away from there.
I apologize for the poor quality of the picture. I was taking it through the wire as I was not about to get any closer to that guy! LOL

I`m glad you got him back.
He looks quite big in your first Pic.
He has abit of size to him but he is very light. Mostly feathers. Kind of like a pomeranian dog, all fur. They look like a drowned rat when they get wet. LOL
What breed is Spock. He is a looker.

We are the city slickers turned chicken farmer.... That is we moved from the city to farm land New Jeresy(1 yr ago). My 9 yr old daughter stated for her birthday she wanted chickens...If I can't have chickens then she wanted that horse she has been asking for since she was 2yrs old. So anyway... We started out with 5 chicks but 1 disappeared soon after we moved them to the coop outside. We now have 4 and 3 of them are roosters. Should I have any concerns for the only Hen???
The males will fight for her attention.
I don`t think they can do her any harm.
She will just learn to side step quickly.
I have to disagree here: it's hard odds on that hen, and the roos will pester her to death and quite possibly injure her badly. I just read a blog by someone who kept several roosters with only a couple of hens, and the blogger's favorite hen was ripped up so badly she died. When we had three roosters with 10 hens, the hens became very stressed, with bloody backs, and stopped laying. One roo would jump a hen, and then the others would either peck at her or jump on just after. It was brutal. Got rid of two roos, and everything went back to normal. If everyone's free range and then hen can get away, it'll go better, but I still wouldn't have three roos to a single hen, ever. One rooster per 9 hens is our happy ratio.
Some gorgeous rooster pics posted here! Wish I could keep more...
