Hi Folks, I am trying to I.D. this plant that I bought last Spring at OSH (I think). It's done really well in a container and I am starting some tip cuttings with hopes that they will go. Any Ideas? Couldn't be too unusual if I got it from a place like OSH.
Thanks, Brian.
What is this stuff?
Hi Brian,
This plant is called Perilla Majilla http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/55780/index.html
It is similar to a Coleus. Roots very easily from cuttings. It will also start to die back when it gets cold in your area. Take some cuttings and keep them warm over the winter for growing out next spring. I have these plants in my garden, and just love them.
BTW , welcome to DG.
Donna
I had one last year and it didn't like frost at all...I would take some cuttings ASAP if I were you.
Hey, Thanks Guys! Thought it was another Colius as a friend or two advised but I swear it had been tagged as something else when I bought it. Yes, It HAS done great in a container and I have taken a couple tips and have them in my "Green House". The donor is also in the Gh and I think I'll take a few more cuttings.
Thanks!
