Hours of good reading...

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

The Arnold Arboretum has generously made all past issues of Arnoldia available for reading on their website. Warning: your productivity at work and the attention your significant other may recieve from here on out might suffer considerably if you procede to this link!

We're all sunk now. Very first page had "Air Layering with Polythene Film". I couldn't help but notice he used electrical tape. Funny how after 50 years we're still using electrical tape when air layering.

Nice link, too nice of a link.

Scott... Thank you for the link and an introduction to a new source of reading material. Amazing the things I am learning on these threads.

Already spent some time reading some of the articles. Definately addictive!!!!!!! LOL Now I know how I will be spending the winter holidays.

Eau Claire, WI

A veritable mother lode for freaks like us. I've already read articles on Ostrya and Cotinus and will no doubt spend the better part of the evening sifting through all 91 index pages. The Packers are on TV tonight? Who cares--I've got Arnoldia. Thanks, Scott.

A grand Huzzah! Thanks Scott!

You'd think that after more than a 100 years there'd be more than just three articles titled "Viburnum"...

The search goes on.

You mean you've not written one for them yet? That's disgraceful!

:-)

HOURS of good reading? A quick look and I'm thinking...YEARS of good reading there! Thank you for the link - I know I'll be spending time at "AA" over the winter :)

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I also...thanks Scott

You can maintain the viability of Ginkgo seeds during transport by encasing them in parafin.
I read the tree seeds article last night.

Thanks, Decumbent!

Ohhh boy! Thanks for the link. Just great for cheapskates like me. If you don't hear back from me in a week, just wait longer.

Regards,
Ernie

LOL Ernie! I know what ya mean. I need to be studying for finals. My old brain takes longer to learn and it so much more fun to be be reading these journals. More educational to me too.

The historic perspective is interesting to me. Plastic used in proprogation was really big in the 1950s. Really revolutionized plant propagation. They didn't have zip lock bags then.

Colts Neck, NJ(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the link, Scott. I found some articles written by the man who inspired my love of plants, especially trees 35 years ago when I was a student at Duke U, Richard H. Fillmore.

Scott,
Thanks for the link. I think it is pretty cool of Arnold Arboretum to have these available to members and non members alike...pretty rare these days. kt

Scott - Thanks very much. I'll need bifocals before winter's end.

Minneapolis, MN(Zone 5a)

Thanks, Scott. This will help me get through the winter cold and dreariness.

Trunkjunk,

Your reply gave me an idea. A lot of people are thanking me for passing on this information, and you are all so welcome, but thanks should really go to the Arnold. I think I will wait a couple of days to allow people to express anything more they'd like to share, and then send a copy of this whole thread to the Arnold. Does that sound okay to everyone?

Scott

sure, why not?

Greensboro, AL

I think its a great idea to let the Arnold Arboretum know its publications of are of far greater interest than just to Harvard Students.

Coldwater, MI(Zone 5b)

Another worthy distraction!
Shoot!!!
Now I will never get my Orchid collection repotted before New Years...
Thanks, Scott :)
