Looked and Looked
Boot,
Name looks legit still. http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?747 Perhaps a trip to Columbia/Venezuela is in order?

Never thought I'd have much to add to an Abutilon anecdote, but...
The Standard Cyclopedia of Horticulture (L. H. Bailey, 1930) states on p. 12:
Abutilon insigne, Planch. (A. igneum, Hort.). Lvs. medium size, crenate-dentate, acuminate, villous pubescent underneath: fls. large, flaring-mouthed, under-color white but obscured by very heavy and rich veining and markings of purple and red, on slender hanging peduncles. Colombia. G.M. 4840. Gn. 18:624; 53, p 300. F.S. 6: 551. -- Very showy; common. Often trained under the roof of the greenhouse or conservatory. St. green, brown-hairy.
An earlier paragraph on the genus adds: "The showy A. insigne is an excellent rafter plant."
Good luck with your search!
Thank you malusman and ViburnumValley for the bonafide info. I would love to have a trip to Columbia/Venezuela .I have the perfect rafter in the carport for a plant like that

I would love to buy some seeds from B&T but I cannot find where???
I looked through B&T and you're right, it's not there although they have a link to it. You might want to try and contact the owner of this site: http://www.malvaceae.info/index.html and see if they have any leads.
