I'll admit it. My curiosity is getting the better of me. Here's my list of what I (so far - always subject to change) plan to buy/have already bought for the 2007 garden season - what's up your sleeve?

Black Forest, Crystal Blush, Eliothiana, Rehmani Superba. Also, Canna 'Lucifer'.
Planned to Order (live plants) From Canning Perennials (if available)
Salvia nemorosa 'May Night', Solidago rugosa 'Fireworks' , Nepeta faasenni 'Six Hills Giant' , Oenothera fruticosa 'Fireworks', Limonium latifolium, Dianthus barbatus 'Heart Attack', Calamintha nepeta nepeta, Centaurea macrocephala, Centranthus ruber 'Coccineus', Crambe Cordifolia, Alcea ficifolia.

DELPHINIUM semibarbatum, whatever else catches my eye :-)
So there we have it :-) I plan on germinating a lot of the seeds through winter sowing, and only a few of each. This list may seem like a lot, but I'm looking at increasing the size of my back gardens by about 75% next spring, so I'll have lots of room.
--Ginny
What are YOU buying for 2007?
Ginny, I'll give you my wish/order lists later, but have a few comments to make on yours. Dominion - all good stuff, Garden's North - I have to go and look some of this up, neat stuff, Pickering - am only familiar with a couple of those, Canning - girl get a grip we'll have to talk about some of these, Botanus - that's where I think I got my Brookside, done beautifully, have divided a few times, Garden Import - lovely, you get that one and I'll trade you for some of the seeds later.
OK, Canning. Salvia nemorosa 'May Night', - great plant, Oenothera fruticosa 'Fireworks'- $15.00? seed available hardyplants.com (now you can shop), Limonium latifolium - this is a common plant should be available locally, cheap cheap or start from seed, Dianthus barbatus 'Heart Attack' - that's a lot of money!, Centranthus ruber 'Coccineus' - definitely would start from seed, echoes has some, Alcea ficifolia - probably would start from seed, 15.00 for one lonely plant. Need more than one.
backing off, retreating.....
LOLOL!!!! Yeah, I figured I could count on someone here to try to bring me to my senses :-)
My biggest problem is that I hate to wait a couple of years for a perennial or biennial to reach mature size and flower for me. I was so proud of myself two years ago when I grew foxglove, hollyhock, and shasta daisy from seed and actually waited for them to flower without giving in and going out to buy mature plants! The idea behind just getting one of each of the live plants is that I can have my cake and eat it too so to speak. I get to enjoy the mature plant while waiting for it to produce seeds that I can then use the following spring to create more plants! Now doesn't that make it sound a little tiny better?
I'll have to check hardyplants.com for the oenothera - you've shamed me into it :-) And I promise I'll think hard about starting some of the others from seed too. Really. No, honestly, I will. Yep, for sure :-)
Ginny, since I went crazy in the buying dept. the last couple of years I'm going to spend a lot of time this coming summer to rearrange and smooth out the rough spots. Also I started a new lasagna garden which is small therefore called the Wee Garden. I just love that name.
I'm going to plant some burning bushes but beyond that haven't planned anything new.
Joan
I have a question....I ordered ( years ago ) roses from a place called Hardy Roses Of The North. They were beautiful climbers, bloomed most of the summer, and hardy to -50. Since then we have moved and when I went to look for the place I found they were sold. Does anybody know where they went?
Thanks in advance..LeeAnne
I'm checking this one out. Prices look good, wonder if he has anything interesting? http://www.humeseeds.com/price97.htm
Hey Pam, he's got pumpkins, white ones and little wee ones.

I plan to order some blue poppies from a place I found on e bay...hubby wants the hardy glad I found in the link above for Gardens North. And since I was looking I checked out Pickering Nurseries and have my eye on some roses... :)

Lynn sounds very nice to deal with, and I will probably add to my order later, but I couldn't makke up my mind on some choices. Just can't get them all. I still have about 15 on my wish list but started with Fimbriata, Wasagaming, Princess de Lambelle, Suzanne, Madame Legras de St. Germain. No idea how big they will be, but the price is not too bad, and I will try them and a few others this year to see how they fair. Last year it was daylilies, looks like this year is roses. Although, once I start looking at daylilies.......and then there is this Tempo Two Iris catalogue sitting here......
Well off I go to sort out that closet. (must just take another peek at T&M fist)
I haven't been able to put down my copy of Tempo Two's catalogue. Oh to be filthy rich, then I wouldn't have to agonize over ones I can't have. I have started a file I call Wish list.
Okayyyyyyyy! Now you're all getting into the spirit LOL. Glad to see I'm not the only poor addicted soul out here :-)

grew all of the queenie hollyhocks the first year they were available from britain - beautiful plants and flowers but did not return and were major aphid magnets
My major purchase in 2007 will be...... wait for it ...........5 special tires for my 71 VW bus.
Maybe only 4. Really want to go exploring/NALS in Edmonton and then keep on going north - North to Alaska ---- via Yukon of course.
Have already purchased 10 yards of 4 way mix for the Guerrilla Garden. Now have to make the bed - aka spread out the mix and plant away.
Thank goodness it is all frozen at the mo. Need to catch my breath a bit before Christmas.
Anyone looking for a good book for a 10ish year old boy - Get 'Hatchet' in pb.
inanda who -at this point - is NOT going to buy buy buy the usual growing goodies this year.
RE: Tempo Two - we could do a group order but read the small print carefully- very pricey
after reading about them in here I ordered the Tempo Two catalogue...still wiping the drool from my keyboard....
I'm still thinking of ordering from Tempo Two. If I do, I would be willing to do a small group order, but only to limited amounts, payed up front. Come with references.
I'm trying to think of the specials that I''ve seen in the seed catalogues that are worth mentioning. Halifax Seeds is a good place to order some seed starting supplies and they do have a small but fairly good selection of seeds. Free shipping till the end of December. Veseys has a 25.00 free if you pre order for spring offer, but for me, they have nothing luscious. I have a fairly big shopping list at Dominion Seed House, and they have a 'up to'10.00 discount on shipping if you order before March 2nd. Shopping list at Stokes and Plants of Distinction, and Specialty Perennials too. Won't order at all of these places of course. At least not this year. Jelitto will have to wait for another year I think. There are lots of other good ones out there I haven't even looked at this year. I'm better off not looking yet. I'ts a looooong winter ahead. Pardon my spelling misses, I'm not going back to look for them.
Tomato Seeds/Squash seeds and a Food Strainer: http://www.kitchenemporium.com/cgi-bin/kitchen/prod/18vw200.html (re: purchases for 2007).
Glad to know I'm not the only seed-a-holic in the crowd. Here's what I've ordered (so far!)
From Easyliving Wildflowers: (although I wouldn't recommend this supplier-- very slow and very reluctant customer service, although the quantities were generous when I finally did receive my order) If anyone wants to trade for the following, I have at least one trade for each:
Callirhoe involucrate Winecups (I grew these in my old garden but, alas, I gave away the 2005 seed and we moved before the 2006 crop matured . . .)
Campanula americana American Bellflower
Cephalanthus occidentalis Buttonbush
Eryngium yuccifolium Rattlesnake Master
Lespedeza capitata roundhead bushclover
Melanthium virginicum Bunchflower lily
Zizia aptera Golden Alexander
Silphium lacinatiatum Compass Plant
Senna marilandica Wild Senna
Penstemon digitalis foxglove Penstemon
From Prairie Moon:
Phlox divaricata Wild Blue Phlox
Dioscorea villosa Wild Yam
Glycyrrhiza lepidota Wild Licorice
Heracleum maximum Cow Parsnip
Hydrastis canadensis Goldenseal
Lycopus americanus Water Horehound
Camassia quamash Blue Camass
From Select Seeds:
Amaranthus cruentus Amaranth 'Oeschberg'
Calendula officinalis Calendula 'Pink Surprise'
Digitalis x mertonensis Foxglove – Strawberry
Incarvillea sinensis Incarvillea 'Cheron'
Zaluzianskya capensis Night Phlox 'Midnight Candy'
Petunia hyb. Petunia - Old Fashioned Climbing
My vegetable order usually comes from William Dam (an incredibly informative and well-organized catalogue. Crappy web site, but they have a new one coming online in January) and also Agrestal and Southern Exposure.
The T & M web site is providing hours of, well, addiction. On the list so far (and this simply MUST get pruned down!):
Flax : campanulatum
Sorrel : Buckler Leaved
Fuchsia Fuseedia Mixed F2
Armeria hybrida Bees Hybrids
Viola x williamsiana Singing the Blues
Lavatera trimestris Twins Hot Pink
Salvia firinacea Victoria
Eschscholzia californica Thai Silk Lemon Bush
Lopezia cordata Pretty Rose
Foxglove : Camelot Rose F1 Hybrid
Nine Star perennial broccoli
Plants I REALLY want but can't/ don't have the patience to grow from seed:
Mahonia aquifolium (Oregon Grape Holly)
Dictamnus Alba (gas plant -- I finally found a SW Ontario nursery that grows these!)
Kolkwitzia (as a hedge)
also on the "buy from nursery" list (probably Connons):
- blueberry bushes
- Salix irrorata and/or Salix purpurea (for coppiced hedge)
- some kind of native Magnolia
- Hawthorns
It's getting a bit out of hand . . .
Today I'm finishing my outdoor "winter sowing lean-to" on the porch. All the seeds that need stratification will be germinated there, protected from snow, wind, squirrels . . . I'll post a photo when it's done.
- Bev
Hey Bev - I feel MUCH better now after seeing the size of your incoming :-) You're from down in my home territory. I was born in Tillsonburg and raised as a young child between Frogmore and Houghton. Okay - time for more of my own confessions.
Ordered From Lilies In The Valley
Calla Lilies: Black Forest, Crystal Blush, Eliothiana, Rehmani Superba
Canna Lily: Lucifer
Asiatic Lilies: America, Ceres (3 of each)
Bletilla striata (2) - Chinese Ground Orchid
Bletilla striata alba - Chinese Ground Orchid, White
And I am not so patiently waiting for Canning Perennials, Gardenimport, and Botanus to open up with the spring stuff :-)
--Ginny
I'm almost glad no one else has posted here in a while. It seems as though I am quite capable of tempting myself without any outside influences whatsoever......
I checked the Gardens North web site out again for some of the stuff I had wanted to order that they didn't have at the time. They now have all but one of the items I wanted. They have also added a whole bunch of new items (and how did I discover that you might ask, since they don't have a new selections section). Sooooooooooo, while I was placing my order for the missing items I kind of, sort of, accidentally you know, added some other things as well :-) Sighhhhhhhh.....I'm beginning to believe I'm incurable. Here's the latest.
Seeds Ordered From Gardens North
Papaver miyabeanum, Asimina triloba, Heteropappus meyendorfii, Nicandra physaloides 'Splash of Cream', Solanum laciniatum, Solanum pupurescens (atropurpureum perhaps?), Aubrieta pinardii, Ipomopsis rubra, Paeonia mlokosewitschii.
So, what's my plan B if I end up with way too many plants (ya think) to use? I plan on gifting them to my gardening friends and relatives who either don't have the time or don't have the patience/experience to start their own plants from seed.
--Ginny
wow, you are incurable. I thought I was bad ordering 7 or 8 things... and trades of course, maybe 15 more...and..well...what I buy impulsively when the garden centers open...but still, I showed you to Hubby and I am off the hook now :) it's a perspective thing I told him...
LA
Glad I could be of service :-)
Great idea threeg.
"Hey, hubby, come see this list! ...and you thought I was crazy? Pfffft "
...
...
...
...
(Gee, thanks Ginny. lol)
Oh, anything I can do to help the cause you know :-) Even I'm shaking my head at myself this year.
This is getting completely nuts. I have ordered a pile of hard-to-find permaculture / edibles / medicinals from JH Hudson. Now I don't usually order from US companies, but this is a small, dedicated seed house and I like what they're trying to do. The shipping charges were so ridiculously low that I threw in some "ordinary" stuff as well. This feels like true confessions! I really must stop, although I'm rationalizing it as part of my post-carbon plan: buy enough seeds to last three years.
http://www.energybulletin.net/23645.html
Here are the gorey details:
Agapanthus africanus
Alstromeria aurantiaca
Amorpha fruticosa
Arctium lappa (yes, burdock!-- for the "wild" area)
Arnica montana
Astragalus membranaceus (huang Qi)
Aubrieta hyb. grandiflorum
Cerastium tomentosa “silver carpet”
Chenopodium “good king henry”
Crambe maritima sea kale
Cuphea
Cyperus esculantus “sativus”
Desmanthus illin. “bundleflower”
Dichelostema pulch. (wild hyacinthe)
Eleusine coacana
Epilobium angustifolium
Eryngium maritima
Eucalyptus niphophila (zone pushing on this one)
Ipomopsis aggregata
Kalmia latifolia
Lilium formosanum
Lunaria rediviva (perennial honesty)
Nigella 'Cramers Plum'
Oxydendron (sourwood tree)
Rhodiola (roseroot)
Smyrnium (alexanders)
Streptopus amplexiculis
Urtica dioica (yes, stinging nettle-- an incredibly useful plant)
Vaccinium myrtillus (billberry)
Ugh. And I still have to buy the "ordinary" veggies from Wm Dam. Except for tomatoes, peas and beans, which are still in good supply from last year.
Somebody in Ont. wanted to know where to find a bay tree. Richters in Goodwood have them.
inanda
I just went to WilliamDam seeds and bought 26 packets. I should probably be restrained from buying them since I have very little empty space........I don't even remember what half of them are. LOL.

Celosia 'Pampas Plume'
Basil 'Oriental Breeze'
dwarf Morning Glory 'Royal Ensign'
Heliotrope
Nemisia

an annual Salvia thats described as "ultramarine blue" I think it's called 'Blue Angel'
Balloon Flower 'Miss Tilly'
Primrose (the supermarket kind)
Petunia
annual Geranium normal and ivy type.
and the rest I can't even remember.............. :)
Steve

--Ginny
Edited for silly cut and paste error.

I have dealt with Liz at Brugmansias Etc. a couple of times and she is great. She is a member of Dave's and a very good friend of Jeanne (brugcrazy). Her plants are shipped in excellent condition and she is only too happy to give you the benefit of her expertise if you have any questions.
Heather
Thats a great selection Ginny :)
I'm heading right on over now to check out Canning Perennials...and whats even better they're only half an hours drive away :D
Steven
Ahhhhhhh! You're not in the banana belt after all Steve :-)
Thanks Heather. I didn't realize that Liz is a member of DG too. She seemed very nice in her reposne when I emailed her about average shipping costs to Ontario.
--Ginny
I ordered alot of different stuff from a number of catloges, but theres 3 things i cant wate to get .
From Veseys theres a white hosta call White Feathers
From Lindenberg seeds i ordered a hosta call orange marmalade
and a Aquilegia swan series, pink and yellow bicolor
Ginny, yes, I am in the banana belt, just a different part I guess :) Everything comes out earlier then surrounding areas like Cambridge and Waterloo ;)
Digging, I love the name of where you live....Come By Chance...It sounds so much nicer then where I live....in Brantford :)
Steven
Digging, me the hosta nut, you had to mention White Feathers.... ! LOL There goes my restraint.
Ginny,
But now I'm done.....no more ordering for me.....honest.....I really mean it.....
Steve,
Hey, why not put Brantford in your location? Although, I must admit, Brantford doesn't sound quite as exotic as Southern Ontario.
lol
Sandy
;-)
I'm in the banana belt and will be trying a number of Chilean plants from Ursula's seed. So many nice Alstroemeria species, different from the cultivars. The banana on the side of the house got hit hard by our severe temp drop in November to -7C but should come back fine from the roots. I really want to try this combo - wonder if they're perennial or annual here.
You most certainly are in the banana belt growin :-)
That is a gorgeous combination in your picture. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for your banana too.
