I took some cutting off my hibiscus bush and some off of a bush that I'm pretty sure is lantana.. How long will it take for them to root and how do I check to see without damaging the developing roots?
Hibiscus and lantana cuttings
just put the lantana in the soil and keep moist... leave them with two adult leaves and the leaf buds, when you see the leaves coming out of the buds you will see they are rooted and ready to go. This takes here in summer about 4 weeks.
Hibiscus - tropical or not? Both would be taken like a shrub cutting and you will know when they start to add new leaves from the leaf buds... I have had them take a week to 8 weeks.
Use clear cups if you want to see the roots, checking in the soil can damage the roots.
I do believe they are tropical hibiscus.. Thanks for the info.. I have them in milk/tea jugs that are cut in half.. I fit the top half back over it to help keep in moisture..
No problem - keep us posted.
