Hi,
I have the Western Garden book which has an excellent section on Rhododendrons but I still find the varieties overwhelming. Also, many of them seem to be very specific in their climatic requirements. I was hoping someone could recommend a few varieties best suited to my area as a starting point. Here are the specifics -
Western Garden Zone 16 (San Jose)
Location is north facing so very little direct sun but open shade otherwise. I currently have a potted bouganvillea in this location and it actually produces a fairly good bloom in mid summer.
Prefer early or mid spring bloomer, pink or pastel blue/purple. Profuse bloom of course!
Height 4' -8'.
Also, this will be a container plant. I can place it in a 2' tall round pot or even larger if necessary.
Also, if you know any good sources in the area - the only place I know that specializes in rhodies is Yamaguchis.
Thanks
