I just realized as I was watching them survey the land next door, thinking they will be putting a multi-family dwelling in place of the house, that they will cutting down all those wonderful trees. I'll talk to the landlord to see if I can remove a couple of the smaller bushes/trees to take to my parents. If he is going to clear the land I'd like to be able to get some of the plants and relocate them before they take a bulldozer in. Hopefully he will let me. A lot of the plants are dying anyway due to neglect.
Would they survive a move in the fall/winter?
Maybe they won't start the process of excavating until spring.
My poor trees
If they are mature trees, ensure the city is aware of their plans as "heritage trees" must be given consideration in this city. If they remove them, they will need to be replace. Typically a developer will have them destroyed before the city has a word. Then it is too late. Speak to the city and find out what's really going on. They are probably not aware of their rarity. You need them identifed by a city arborist.
OK, I'll contact them,K~
I didn't see a city arborist on the city list. I did contactthe tree person, they are looking into it, so they say.
K~
