For anyone interested, Sierra Club is circulating an online petition protesting proposed legislation that would open 130,000 acres to logging in Sequoia National Forest. What will they come up with next in the name of profit? Here's the URL:

I would expect to see an explanation for it. If it is selective logging that will release younger trees in the understory and reduce fire hazards than it may be okay. However, if it is solely for the purpose of making money, that is another story.
I hear you, escambiaguy; but the fact that the bill's language would shield resulting timber sales from environmental and legal review leads me to think profit is the sole, or primary, motivator.
